Plus he bleeds Husker Red and the blackshirt tradition and also he was a captain of the team this year.
This is why I think Nelson gets such a pass from so many. People so badly want to see the small town Nebraska kid play for them. Its great that he does those things but that doesnt win games. Look at Michigan, Wisconsin, and other top defenses in the country. Does Garrett see their two deep?

I’d find this odd. Nelson is one of a few current players that matches the toughness and profile Rhule is looking for. Fully convinced Rhule’s fresh staff will only benefit his draft status.
He has zero draft status right now.
I'll agree that it will be easier to rebuild a pass rusher than the O-line but a majority of these guys are going to have to be completely retooled.

Some stuff on Reddit about Garrett Nelson looking to transfer
This will make for some interesting debate. Ive made my feelings towards Nelson known. A fresh start at a smaller school would do him well

All of our assistant coaches should have food-related nicknames.
Pot Roast, Mutton Chop, Eggplant.
Eggplant? Avery Moss is coaching?!

Any clue on OL? We need a difference maker on OL. Like screw Iowa and Wisky difference maker for OL as we need a top guy.
Id give up both testicles for the Eagles OL coach

i believe the name Fran Brown has come up before.
He worked at Temple and Baylor and I think the times matched up, currently at Georgia coaching Defensive Backs.
He was. But with a DB coach already named it seems like Brown wont be coming here

Has he told Benhart to enter the portal yet?

Ok gang, pick your poison. Jim Leonhard or Glenn Schumann
Why not both? Honestly either would do well. Really tough to pick
How do they do on the recruiting trail

Had 3 DBs drafted last year. All were mid 3 stars in HS
Was that Prince's year too?
I also miss the Bullock's twins. Man those guys kicked a$$

Maybe Evan can coach up guys to play like Corey Cooper.
Who wants to do the research to see how pass D and INT's went

Apparently everyone knew the west was going away outside of me.
Getting to a title game is that much further away for Nebraska with that.
I still think a lot will be mentioned going forward with Rhule\Fickell comparisons.

Appreciate the responses.
From someone separated from seeing and reading about the players in the Omaha area, there is a fine line of getting legit talent and still wanting to build the program with Nebraska boys

Stupid attitude.
How so? If Fickel would go to Wisconsin he could probably be sold on Nebraska. If Fickel is going to beat Rhule on a regular basis theres no reason for either to be around. Winning the west is fairly easy, if you cant do it move on

Honest question. How many starters for other P5 teams get stars from Omaha?
Im in western SD and dont honestly know.

Who the hell would they get? Leonard? Why would anyone go there. They are returning to order as a dump.
I agree. But how do you sit on 1-whatever and only win being over Frost?
They have to dump some coaches to at least pretend they want to compete

Texas high school coaches love Rhule. Some people with more free time and interwebs knowledge are already tracking new offers and that could tell who the staff is and what kind of team Nebraska is looking to build.
-
Will Northwestern dump Fitzgerald?
-
If Wisconsin sees more success with Fickell than Nebraska does with Rhule, Albers can clear his office

What about Ryan Day as OC. Ohio State should fire him for the last two Michigan games
