  2. So during Mike Riley's tenure we had a big pipeline going with Calabasas, many guys committing and getting excited about Nebraska. Now that pipeline has kind of died but I believe one of our assistant coaches (Held?) was there and reoffered johnny wilson (5 star WR for 2020) and a top oline prospect. I actually have a friend who plays for Calabasas and talks to all the big time recruits and he usually tells me stuff about nebraska and calabasas, even said himself he would love to walk on here if he were offered (he's a 2nd/3rd string guy on calabasas). Basically he told me he's gonna talk to Johnny Wilson about Nebraska and what he thinks about us because he said wilson has no idea where he wants to go right now. Also my friend said he never really had a college team to root for but loves it more then NFL, he said if gebbia ends up being the starter he'd be #GBR for life. So basically I got us an inside man for Calabasas and I will keep you guys updated whenever he tells me anything interesting.

  4. Wisconsin wins because it adopted the Nebraska way. Why doesn't Nebraska follow the Nebraska model? http://www.omaha.com/huskers/bigten/barfknecht-badgers-use-huskers-old-blueprint-to-roll-along-against/article_a58e04c0-a636-11e7-a739-df65c3fb2179.html
  5. I found the below poll on an Omaha.com article about Diaco's defense, his approach and its impact on the team. I'm interested to see what Huskerboard thinks in our own poll and if we are in any way correlated with a larger, more generic pool of Husker voters. This is particularly relevant as we've recently had the validity of Huskerboard polls called entirely into question. Here's the article, for those interested. So far, this poll has 909 voting yes and 303 voting no.

  9. Hi, looking for a Nebraska game worn jersey, in particular the following players: #34, Trev Alberts #7, Scott Frost #50 Dave Rimington OR #30 Mike Rozier Thanks!
  10. Had someone that knew I was a die-hard Nebraska fan send an article to me about the most prejudiced places in America. Very disappointing that our favorite city shows up not once, but twice on their lists: These were the worst offending cities by category, per Twitter feeds of citizens of those cities. Now, I'm not sure that using Twitter is the *best* barometer, but it is one that's culturally relevant based on acceptance and usage, at any rate. Also, the original article that can be found here also addresses that they're looking for keywords/phrases, and that some cultures have attempted to appropriate negative slurs (e.g. the "N" word and African American culture) and that this isn't filtered out by their methods. Anyway, thought this was interesting, especially in the context of recruiting for our University, as the last thing we need is for kids to be told that Lincoln is one of the most prejudiced places in America (whether or not the data is legitimate).
  11. I want this to be a serious thread for all questions relating to SF's future. What are the chances he does well at UCF? What are the chances he ends up at Nebraska? Can he recruit to a school that doesn't have the College of Nike Apparel appeal? Just wanted to hear other people's thoughts. Also, I'm currently a freshmen at UNL and was wondering if anyone else on HB is currently at UNL, or if it is all older fans that remember the good ol' days? I'd love to see the differences in opinions between generations. Oh, and GBR!
  12. Link to the LJS Article Notes from the article: This is something many of us have asked all season long--if you know you have a QB that can't handle the plays that are being called, why the heck are you calling them in the first place? Perhaps the local media was being kind in waiting until the end of the regular season, to give Riley, Langsdorf, et al, the benefit of the doubt. But it's evident they're seeing what many folks have pointed out here, usually during gameday threads--that Riley and Langsdorf really did not do what was sold to the 'Husker fans at the beginning of the season in this regard...or worse yet, they did set out to do this, and failed in their attempt to do so. I think between Sipple's column and McKeown's article in the aftermath of the Iowa debacle, it's evident that the grace period for Riley and company (for whatever grace period was given) is now over, and the local pundits are seeing what many folks have been complaining about for some time--that Langsdorf isn't putting these kids in a position to win with his playcalling and coaching. I guess the honeymoon is over?
  13. Here is a video preview by the ES, the oldest college FB blog in the Big Ten. It's from the most popular bar in East Lansing of the upcoming stint at Nebraska. We interview locals about their thoughts on the Spartans vs Corn, review the Spartans whipping of Indiana and the terrible reffing in the Big Ten... plus, video footage of the stumble into Spartan Stadium. Check it out and enjoy! Go GREEN. http://enlightenedspartan.blogspot.com/2015/11/enlightened-spartan-preview-6-mich.html
  14. 2015 Game 7 “Expert” Picks: Nebraska at Minnesota ————— CollegeFootballNews.com Why You Need To Care Nebraska might be four plays away from being 6-0, but it’s 2-4 – you are what your record is. This is turning into a historically awful start for a program looking to make this a special year after firing Bo Pelini for not being able to take the program to a whole other level – among other things. Lose this, then you’re talking about the worst start to a Husker season since going 1-9 in 1957. Win this, and with Northwestern up next and Iowa still to play, there’s still time to catch fire, go on a run, and yeah, actually win the West. Lose, and then Northwestern and Iowa look daunting, and facing Michigan State won’t help, either. Minnesota hasn’t been good, but it’s 4-2 and coming off a 41-13 blasting of Purdue. This isn’t anywhere near the same team compared to last year’s, and the season could fall off the map in a hurry with a loss. After this? Michigan, at Ohio State, at Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and needing to win two of the last five against them with a loss this week. Why Nebraska Will Win Don’t let the Purdue game fool you – the Minnesota offense still isn’t working. Yes, the running game was great, and yes, Mitch Leidner was efficient and effective with the passing attack, but the Gophers are struggling to put points on the board against decent defenses. Nebraska has a decent defense. The Huskers might be 106th in the nation in total defense, and the secondary has been a hot mess, but Malik Collins and the run defense have been terrific. No one has run for more than 150 yards yet on the Husker D that’s allowing just over three yards per carry. Minnesota needs to run to win – that’s going to be a problem. Why Minnesota Will Win What the hell has happened to the Nebraska passing game? Even with the return of De’Mornay Pierson-El, and even with some decent targets to play around with, Tommy Armstrong has struggled. Playing the Illinois and Wisconsin defense have had something to do with it, but Armstrong has completed 21-of-59 passes for just 234 yards with a touchdown and a pick over the last two games. Minnesota’s secondary is rock solid, ranking 15th in the nation and ninth in pass efficiency defense – the Nebraska air show isn’t going to take off this week. Player Who Matters No one expected much out of Shannon Brooks. The 6-0, 206-pound Atlanta native came to Minnesota as just a recruit, without any fanfare, and he didn’t do much over the first three games. He started turning heads against Ohio with 82 yards and two scores on just ten carries, and last week he took over with 176 yards and a score on just 17 carries, highlighted by a 71-yard dash. He’s got the speed, and he has the running mate in fellow freshman Rodney Smith to help share the load. What’s Going To Happen? Is Nebraska going to finally catch a break and finally get over the hump, or is this just the way the team is going to roll this year? Nebraska is a far better team than Minnesota with a far better offense, but the Gopher defense is set up the right way to pull off the home win. Nebraska will once again figure out how to lose. 17. TFE's NFL Draft Lead writer Brandon Thorn breaks down one of his top rated RBs for the 2015 NFL Draft with an in-depth, NFL style scouting report. This is the first of many prospects that are completed using this format. Feedback is very much appreciated! http://www.thefootballeducator.com/ameer-abdullah-nebraska/ Summary:Abdullah has been the bell cow back for the Cornhuskers since taking over the starting role as a sophomore in 2012 (three-year starter). Ameer set numerous school-records including the only player in history to rush for three 1,000 yard seasons and he finished as the school’s second all-time leading rusher. He finished his career with 813 carries, 4,588 yards, 5.6 YPC, 39 TD, 73 receptions, 690 yards, 7 TD, 1592 return yards, 26.1 YPR. Ameer’s senior season (2014) he finished with 264 carries, 1,611 yards, 6.1 ypc, 19 TDs, 22 receptions, 269 yards, 3 TDs, 14 returns, 392 yards, 28.0 avg. He also received his degree in history in 3 1/2 years. Abdullah is a dynamic, do-it-all player who wins with effort as much as explosion and quicks. His fearless mentality on the field allows him to be a very effective cut blocker, inside runner, and tackle breaker. Ameer looks to run inside first, but once in the open-field, look out. He runs low, which paired with his sculpted, compact frame gives him the leverage advantage against almost any defender. Arm tackles do not work against him and he initiates contact much more than he receives it. His two biggest strengths are his vision and decisiveness. He identifies the right hole consistently and wastes no time attacking it. His acceleration out of his first cut and jump cut is devastating. Ameer is a smooth route-runner and receiver out of the backfield, displaying soft hands that he uses to make the routine and difficult catch seamlessly. Aside from some fumbling issues his first three years that he cleaned up his Sr. year, his lack of overpowering size to run between the tackles at the next level is my only other concern. He could easily handle another 5-10 pounds of weight, making his body capable of being a feature back. By all accounts from college, he would be a great teammate and addition to the locker room as well. Ameer is a top 32 prospect for me with legitimate value near the end of round 1, worst-case middle of round 2. He’s the type of player who will likely get overlooked and be a steal after round 1. Value – Top 30 Projection – Top 50 Pro Comp = Ahmad Bradshaw
  18. TFE's NFL Draft Lead writer Brandon Thorn breaks down his #1 rated edge player for the 2015 NFL Draft with an in-depth, NFL style scouting report. Feedback is very much appreciated! Full Report - http://www.thefootballeducator.com/randy-gregory-nebraska/ RG is a freakish athlete who has tremendous size with a narrow but muscular body-type. He has long arms & aggressive hands that he uses to maintain separation at the POA to locate the ball. Surprisingly aggressive & physical when shedding blocks, rarely getting overpowered off the LOS, but it does happen from time to time due to lack of sand. Excellent in pursuit where his high motor & outstanding speed really get to shine. He’s an explosive tackler who meets ballcarriers with an attitude and wraps up consistently. He is noticeably late out of his stance in every game I watched, usually 4-5 times each tape. This is hard to figure out why and since it still happens frequently late in the year, is somewhat disconcerting. Despite occasionally being late off the snap, Gregory is a very well-developed pass-rusher who wins in a variety of ways. He consistently keeps his pad level low out of his stance which enables him to dictate the outcome more often than not. His coordination and foot fire allow him to get OL off balance which sets up his array of moves. RG is very skilled with his hands and has a nice rip, spin, swim, and bullrush capabilities. He loves crossing the OL’s face and can get skinny on the inside where most of his sacks have come by way of his swim move. His closing speed/short-area burst is impeccable and he made a play vs Miami that summed this up well where a RB attempted to cut him off of play-action. Gregory was standing up on the right side as the QB hiked the ball & faked a handoff to the RB, who after the fake immediately went for RGs’ knees. RG used his incredible quickness/agility to juke the RB out, leap over him, regain his traction almost instantly and throw the QB down for a sack. He made it look effortless & put on full display his athletic prowess. Despite playing ILB in the 3-4 several times each game (where he was a very effective blitzer, beating slower OL with his excellent speed/agility) there wasn’t enough tape to see him turn his hips and cover. This will be an area that gets tested at the Combine & his pro day. Overall, the way Gregory is used at Nebraska translates almost perfectly to the NFL. The difference is he is best suited as a 3-4 OLB not a 4-3 DE, at least initially, due to the need to add more weight. He is scheme versatile with the ability to be used as a queen on a defensive chess board in the front 7, lining up virtually anywhere and having an impact from day 1. Pro Comp = Aldon Smith Hit me up on Twitter for more in-depth reporting @VeteranScout
  19. Hey everyone, I am the NFL Draft leader writer for The Football Educator run by former GM of the Denver Broncos Ted Sundquist & I am beginning to get my top 5, big board, and mock draft on the site for 2015. I wanted to come here and share what I think of some Cornhuskers. I am very high on both Randy Gregory & Ameer Abdullah, just thought you guys would appreciate it and if anything, enjoy this website in general. Please feel free to drop a comment to me @OneDayGM on Twitter. Thanks. http://www.thefootballeducator.com/brandon-thorns-2015-nfl-draft-big-board-jan-1/

  21. There are a hell of a lot of passionate Nebraska fans that have been spooled up by the most recent debacle in Madison that want change but feel as though they have a voice in the matter. As much as it pains me as a die hard Nebraska fan, the only way change happens is if Nebraska fans make a statement by not going to our next home game against Minnesota. If there are lots of empty seats come Saturday on national television, that's going to be the only way your voice gets heard and amplified. Michigan, for all their deserved grief and incompetence, figured this out, and they jettisoned an AD and will soon jettison their coach as a result. Nebraska with a half-empty (or even 1/3rd empty) Memorial Stadium would make a resounding statement that would not be ignored by the media, and would force our AD to not only look at change (if he isn't already), but have a dialog with the fanbase to communicate that the status quo is not acceptable. Now, there are concerns with doing this: Is it fair to the kids to do this on their Senior Day? No, and fans that feel bad about this need to reach out by correspondence via the AD office to those seniors so you can personally let them know that you appreciate their efforts and that this wasn't anything to do with them, but voicing your concern with the coaching staff and the direction of the program. Would this impact the sellout streak? Likely not, since most of the tickets have already been sold, and the NU AD likely has a contingency plan to unload tickets in a manner to maintain said sellout streak. Is this going to negate the influence that our big boosters have? No, but it does steer their influence and the discussion--as much money as these boosters contribute, if Nebraska starts looking as though it's losing the fanbase, that will impact merchandising, recruiting, and Nebraska's overall cache (or what's left of it) in college football. Boosters may not want to make a change, but they'll be forced to the table to discuss. It's not unlike the scene in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", where the mother describes to her daughter that while her husband may be the head of the family, she is the neck and directs where the head is looking. Am I asking for Bo to be terminated? No, unless the AD feels it necessary. I do feel that each position coach and coordinator needs to be evaluated, as well as team philosophies and ancillary parts that support our football team, such as our sports psychology department and strength and conditioning instructors. Now, granted, it's sacrilege to say 'don't go to a Nebraska game'. But folks, Nebraskans in this state built this program by pitching in, and Nebraska is an example of how a small state of 2.5 million can all rally around a common goal and come out with something beautiful. This is a program that our forefathers built with personal donation, big or small, with each purchase of a hat, a shirt, a pennant, or some other Nebraska Cornhusker-themed tchotchke. Fans still have a voice, and we need to use it by keeping it home on Saturday.
