All five wins have been by double figures, while Tuesday’s 15-point win was its smallest of the season. Cincinnati is coached by Mick Cronin, who is in his 10th year at the school after serving as head coach at Murray State. The Bearcats have made the last five NCAA Tournaments, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2012. The Bearcats return all five starters and nine letterwinners from a team that went 23-11 and reached the third round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament. UC is a balanced attack, as two players are in double figures while nine players average at least seven points per game. Senior Farad Cobb leads UC at 13.6 points per game and is hitting 57 percent from 3-point range. The Bearcats’ strength is on the defensive end, as UC is second nationally in steals, third in turnover margin, seventh in blocked shots and eighth in field goal percentage defense. Cincinnati leads the all-time series, 4-1, and Friday’s matchup marks the third straight year the teams have met. Last season, Nebraska won 56-55 in double overtime at Pinnacle Bank Arena, as Shavon Shields and Terran Petteway had 13 points each. Tai Webster scored all nine of his points in the final 10 minutes of regulation and in the two overtimes. Tony Caupain led Cincinnati with 13 points, but the Bearcats shot 32 percent from the field. In 2013, Cincinnati posted a 74-59 home win behind a 21-point effort from All-American Sean Kilpatrick. The Huskers and Bearcats have met once on a neutral court, a 84-73 Bearcats win in the semifinals of the 1996 San Juan Shootout. Nebraska will be the third power conference team the Lions have faced, as Southeastern Louisiana lost to TCU and Texas A&M in its first two games. The Lions were picked seventh in the Southland Conference preseason poll. Second-year coach Jay Ladner brings back six letterwinners, including a pair of starters, from a team that went 9-23 in 2014-15. Senior Zay Jackson leads Southeastern Louisiana with 13.3 points and 5.0 assists per game. The Hornets had to replace four starters from that team, including Kendall Gray, who was the MEAC Player of the Year, and Amere May, who led the MEAC in scoring at 21.2 points per game. Second-year coach Keith Walker returns seven letterwinners and just one starter. DeAndre Haywood is the team’s most experienced player, as he started 19 games and averaged 6.3 points per game in 2014-15. With a young team, the Hornets played 13 players in the 62-56 loss to Delaware in the season opener and were led by Devin Morgan’s 10 points. Against Penn on Tuesday, Haywood came off the bench and led DSU with 13 points and five rebounds, while Morgan finished with 12 points and four assists. The Wildcats have reached the NCAA Tournament in nine of the past 10 years and have won the Big East regular season conference title in each of the past two years. The Wildcats went 33-3 last year before getting upset by North Carolina State in the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. This year, Villanova is picked to win the Big East and returns a pair of starters in 2015-16. The returnees are highlighted by Big East Co-Player of the Year Ryan Arcidiacono, who averaged 10.1 points and 3.5 assists per game last year. Senior forward Daniel Ochefu gives Villanova an inside presence, as he averaged 9.2 points and 8.5 rebounds a game last year and had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the Wildcats’ opener. Tuesday’s matchup with the Huskers marks the first time Villanova has hosted a Big Ten team since March of 1989. Villanova leads the all-time series, 2-0, while Tuesday’s meeting is the first between the two teams on the contiguous 48 states. The Wildcats victory in 1987 (70-53) took place at the Maui Classic, while the 1998 win (75-60) took place at the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Ala. Nebraska is 32-36 all-time against current Big East members.

Senior forward Latrell Love averaged 5.9 points per game and 2.1 rebounds per game while making 13 starts, while Delta Devils will be counting on a host of new faces. MVSU’s game with Nebraska begins a long road trip, as the Delta Devils will not play a home game until Jan. 4. The team has 13 road games, including matchups with Air Force, BYU, Northwestern and Hawaii before beginning SWAC play in January.

The Wolves went 23-9 last season, including a 15-7 record in the Northern Sun Conference, and reached an NCAA Regional for the first time since the 2008-09 campaign. Under head coach Paul Sather, Northern State has won 20 or more games in two of the past three seasons, posting a 62-31 mark in those seasons after his teams combined for a 25-27 record in his first two years at the school. Prior to taking the Northern State job, Sather spent five years at Black Hills State. He played collegiately at Northern State, helping the school to a pair of runner-up finishes in 1993 and 1994 when Tim Miles served as an assistant at the school. The Wolves return a pair of starters from last year in guards Skye Warwick and DJ Pollard. Warwick averaged 10.9 points per game as a junior and is an excellent outside shooter, hitting 46 percent from beyond the arc. Pollard made 20 starts and averaged 9.8 points per game. In addition, junior Darin Peterka averaged 9.5 points per game as a sophomore and was among the team leaders with 74 assists.

The Nittany Lions were impressive in non-conference play, going 12-1 with the only loss being a double-OT loss to Charlotte on Nov. 20. In Big Ten play, PSU has had opportunities, as eight of their conference losses were by two possessions or less or in overtime. The Nittany Lions had lost their last six games before knocking off Minnesota 79-76 on Sunday in Minneapolis to complete a season sweep of the Gophers. The Nittany Lions feature one of the top scorers in the Big Ten in fifth-year senior D.J. Newbill, who leads the conference in scoring at 20.7 points per game. The 6-foot-4 guard also tops PSU in assists with 3.2 per game and chips in 4.9 rebounds per game. Junior Brandon Taylor is second on the team in scoring at 9.3 points per game, while freshman Shep Garner averages 9.1 points per game. All three players have at least 50 3-pointers, as the trio has combined for 155 of Penn State’s 205 3-pointers on the year. Senior Ross Travis leads PSU with 6.3 rebounds per game.

The Terrapins, who can be either the first or second seed in next week’s Big Ten Tournament, have won their last six games, most recently a 60-50 win at Rutgers on Tuesday night. The Terrapins finished the regular season by going 18-1 at home, but are just 5-4 in true road games this season. Turgeon is a familiar face for long-time Husker fans, as he played at Kansas from 1984 to 1987 for Larry Brown and also served as an assistant at KU from 1987 to 1992. He served as a head coach at Jacksonville State, Wichita State and Texas A&M before taking the Maryland job prior to the 2011-12 season. Maryland, which averages 69.9 points per game, feature a trio of double figure scorers in freshman guard Melo Trimble, senior guard Dez Wells and junior forward Jake Layman. The Terrapins rank second nationally in free throws made, as Trimble leads the Big Ten and ranks fifth nationally with 181 free throws, while ranking fifth in the Big Ten at 16.0 points per game. Wells provides a veteran presence who averages 15.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while Layman chips in 13.2 points per game. The Terrapins stretch defenses to the 3-point line, ranking fifth in the Big Ten with 222 3-pointers while shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc.

The Illini are coming off an 86-60 win over Northwestern on Saturday night, a victory which snapped a three-game losing streak. In that game, Illinois went 9-of-16 from 3-point range in the first half in building a 22-point halftime lead. Senior guard Rayvonte Rice led Illinois with 19 points and added seven rebounds to place five players in double figures. Illinois, which went 20-15 and reached the second round of the NIT last season for third-year coach John Groce, had four returning starters, but have been without senior guard Tracy Abrams, who has missed the entire season following knee surgery. The Illini opened the year with six straight wins, including a 62-54 victory over Baylor in the Las Vegas Invitational, before faltering with three losses in a four-game stretch, including to then-nationally ranked Miami and Villanova. In Big Ten play, Illinois has been streaky over the last month, stringing together four straight wins, including victories over Michigan State and Michigan before a three-game losing streak. Rice, who missed nine games because of injury and suspension, tops the Illini in both scoring (16.3 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg) and is shooting 46 percent from 3-point range. Illinois has a trio of double-figure scorers in sophomores Malcolm Hill (14.3 ppg) and Kendrick Nunn (11.4 ppg). Both players are shooting over 38 percent from long distance, as the Illini are shooting 37 percent from 3-point range as a team.

He served as a head coach at Jacksonville State, Wichita State and Texas A&M before taking the Maryland job prior to the 2011-12 season.
