  1. Starters Nebraska is two wins away from their 2,000th win in school history. Should be an interesting series. We SHOULD sweep the wildcats.
  2. I thought it was pretty interesting that on Obama's ESPN Women's bracket, he has the Nebraska Lady Huskers going to the Elite 8. Regardless of politics, it is nice to get some presidental confidence.
  3. Here is an article that Miles gave that provides some reasoning as to why the Men's team passed up the CBI. http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1485018 (FREE)
  4. Tomorrow's game has been moved to Wednesday for a double header. Rest of article is here. One interesting tidbit
  5. For all of you Martinez haters: http://espn.go.com/college-football/conferences/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/collegeQuarterbackRating/year/2012/id/5/big-ten-conference He's quietly leading the conference, including 'Heisman Hopeful' Braxton Miller, in QB ratings. Pleasantly surprised. Also found this: http://espn.go.com/ncf/conferences/statistics/team/_/stat/defense/sort/sacks/year/2012/id/5/big-ten-conference After all of our 2-gap-linemen-stand-there-so-linebackers-can-be-free nonsense, somehow we are also quietly leading the conference in sacks. Again, pleasantly surprised.
  6. What the title says. As long as you wear red and cheer loud, they're free. -Josh
  7. Like the title says. 4 tickets together for this week's game. Can do overnight mail or 2-day mail, whatever works. Face value is $80, getting rid of these cheap and quick. (913) 9O1-7109 Josh
  8. Hope this is okay with the mods to start this for the year. Thought I'd kick it off, since the ladies kick it off up in South Dakota on Friday with an exhibition against South Dakota State. Can't wait to see the ladies in action. As I stated in the thread regarding the schedule, there are five freshmen coming in from a nationally competitive club team in Omaha, and hopefully that will provide some cohesiveness right off the bat. Should be interesting to see how the women compete this year. While we lost our prolific scorer, sometimes that can be a good thing, because if you have one player that's so strong, you can begin to rely on that individual too much. I think we'll see pretty early on how well this team can work together. GBR!
  9. Hello everyone, I stumbled across a former Nebraskan, living in LA, who is currently working on a Husker Documentary called "Through These Gates." Still in the works, the previews look amazing so far!!! Thought I would pass along... http://vimeo.com/user10624205 Their Twitter handle is @ThruTheseGates Hope you enjoy!
  10. https://twitter.com/HuskerExtraSip/status/237185023437066240 Nebraska plans to unveil Web site to help promote Rex Burkhead's Heisman Trophy campaign, per @HuskerExtraBRhttp://tinyurl.com/8dw7qyz
  11. Hi, I bought a ticket to the UCLA vs. Nebraska football game on September 8th at the Rose Bowl. Unfortunately, I can no longer attend. The seat is located in Section 23, Row 61, near the aisle. I paid about $80 for it thru Ticketmaster. I need to sell the ticket and am just asking what I paid for it. I was really looking forward to this game as I am actually a Bruin but recently became friends with some Nebraska transplants, mostly from the Lincoln area but also Kimball. They're a fun bunch and would be sitting in the surrounding area. The adjacent seats are still available on Ticketmaster so if there were others in your party they could purchase those directly. If anyone here still without a ticket could consider buying mine I would greatly appreciate it. You can e-mail me at xuclarockerx@gmail.com or text me at 714-350-7234. FYI I found this site while looking for onsale date for the game. Thank you much.
  12. More info about the tournament that Nebraska was putting on. Evidently, four host sites, and four of the seven participating teams will play in a bracket style tournie the last weekend. Interesting concept, and it looks and smells like it has a big Miles influence in here. Could be wrong, maybe not giving Boehm enough credit, but this was a pretty ambitious project, from the looks of it. Can't wait to see it unfold. Should be a good test for the team to see where it's at in terms of capabilities. Also be nice to see Nebraska and Nebraska-Omaha play for the first time, and see how the respective programs stack up. Hopefully, this becomes an annual event. Maybe try to build to a higher level of team as you go along. Link here: http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=205571521
  13. I got some news for everyone in here. my buddy works for #ESPN in New York City and they are working on Game Day commercials this week. One of the songs is licensed by The University Of Nebraska entitled, 'Dominator'. The University is using it all season long and ESPN received rights the song to use within their own programming / commercials and highlight reels. The song is electronica based and very similar to something skrillex would do(according to my friends in NY). He said the song was AMAZING and done by a Nebraska alum. The song was also used to preview the new uniforms at a press conference I am told. If anyone has the song, please post! thanks in advance. Here is the lyrics sheet they sent me: I'm Bigger, and Bolder, and Rougher and Tougher, in other words Sucker, there is no other I'm Bigger, and Bolder, and Rougher and Tougher, in other words Sucker, there is no other I'm Bigger, and Bolder, and Rougher and Tougher, in other words Sucker, there is no other...no other...I'm bigger, and bolder, and rougher in other words sucker there is no other,I'm the one and only Dominator, I'm the one and only Dominator the song says it was produced in Hollywood, CA under Warner Bros Records.
  14. Good job selling out your matches yet again, ladies! Tickets sell out in less than half and hour, per OWH: http://www.bigredtoday.com/article/20120802/BIGRED/708039999/-1#single-match-nu-tickets-sell-out-in-less-than-half-an-hour
  15. Nice article by Rich Kaipust about Gary Bargen's retirement. I had not realized that he had been in that position over the years. May have seen the name, but never really dawned on me who exactly the guy was. I remember him from his years as assistant coach, but probably mostly remember him as Jed's Dad. Really nice to hear how well things turned out in that role for him. Always good to hear how many truly good people we have in the athletic department, even if you hear about it more as they're getting ready to leave than anything else. http://www.omaha.com/article/20120730/BIGRED/707309906/1001#nu-s-bargen-found-his-life-after-coaching
  16. Not sure how exciting this is, but the official site announced the Huskers will be participating in the Sun Bowl Invitational this year. Evidently Miles participated last year with Colorado St., so I would guess that's how we ended up there again. Probably looking to pick up a Christmas break tournament, and may not have had many other options at this point. Others participating are UTEP, Central Michigan, Arkansas-Pine Bluff. UTEP was about even with us on RPI last year, the others were way down the list. Not too exciting, but a little more info about the schedule. Link is here: http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=205502080
  17. Nebraska-Omaha released their schedule yesterday, I believe. I think I mentioned a blurb BC from the LJS had mentioned regarding UNO being invited to the Nebraska Classic, I believe it's called. The two are set to meet 11/18, no time set yet, according to the Mavericks website, omavs.com. Link for the schedule here: http://omavs.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball
  18. After a little digging over the last week, I was able to locate a bit of information regarding the team's schedule and some of their incoming players. Interesting stuff. While the Huskers have not officially released the schedule yet, here is what I've been able to glean from other sources: 8/10 - South Dakota State (Exh.) - Brookings, SD 8/17 - Oklahoma - Norman, OK - 7:00 PM 8/19 - Drake - Lincoln - 12:00 Noon Husker Invitational - From what I can tell, the other teams are Virginia Tech, New Mexico, and Iowa State - it appears from Iowa State's schedule that we don't play them, so I'm assuming that our games will be against Virginia Tech and New Mexico. Virigina Tech has us listed for Friday, so I'm giving the details for that, but don't have a time on the New Mexico game. 8/24 - Virginia Tech - Lincoln - 5:00 PM 8/26 (assumed) - New Mexico - -Lincoln - no time for game 8/31 - Baylor - Waco, TX - 7:00 PM 9/2 - Cincinatti - Cincinatti, OH - 1:00 PM 9/8 - Southeast Missouri State - Lincoln - 5:00 PM 9/14 - Northwestern - Evanston, IL - 5:00 PM 9/21 - Purdue - Lincoln - 4:30 PM 9/23 - Indiana - Lincoln - TBA 9/28 - Michigan St. - East Lansing, MI - 3:00 PM 9/30 - Michigan - Ann Arbor, MI - 1:00 PM 10/5 - Wisconsin - Madison, WI - 7:00 PM 10/12 - Penn St. - Lincoln - 7:00 PM 10/14 - Ohio St. - Lincoln - 12 Noon 10/18 - Iowa - Iowa City, IA - 7:00 PM 10/21 - Illinois - Urbana-Champaign, IL - 1:00 PM 10/26 - Minnesota - Lincoln - TBA We will likely have 2-4 more non-conference games, and Indiana didn't have their schedule up either. Neither did New Mexico, which is why I didn't have a time for that one. Some interesting stats - from that schedule, our non-conference has 2 that were outside 100 RPI last year (not counting SDSU). The listing for last year's RPIs is as follows: Oklahoma - 100 Drake - 274 Virginia Tech - 21 New Mexico - 68 Baylor - 15 Cincinatti - 190 Southeast Missouri State - 99 Northwestern - 202 Purdue - 136 Michigan State - 54 Michigan - 94 Wisconsin - 69 Penn State - 9 Ohio State - 34 Iowa - 61 Illinois - 17 Minnesota - 82 Indiana - 166 Not a bad nonconference. A few easier teams, mixed in with a few powerful teams. As far as the team, while I don't know a ton, what I did track down has to do with Toro Bravo club team out of Omaha. Five of our incoming freshmen are off that team, a team that won the Nebraska Soccer Championship, were picked to participate in a National League of club teams (only 12 picked to participate), and finished first in their group of six teams, with a 4-0-1 record, and lost in the championship game 3-2 on penalty kicks. No one scored in regulation or overtime. One of the incoming freshmen was on the top 10 list in that league for scoring, scoring 3 goals in their six games. I would think that having so many that played on that team coming in, those girls likely have a comfort level with one another already, which likely can only help the team. That squad had 18 players that are going on to play college soccer, with only one playing at the DII level. Texas A&M is getting 3, Iowa State is getting 2, UNO is getting 2, North Dakota State is getting 1, Missouri State is getting 1. Some very quality players that can hopefully help us fairly quickly. If you're interested, the page for that club is here - http://www.torosocce...o-2009-present- So while we may have lost Morgan Marlborough, and no one can really replace her, having a group come in with those credentials on the high school level, with the comfort level they're likely to have, I have a lot of confidence for the future, and potentially for this year, in this team. GBR! Edit - 6/27 to add Indiana date
  19. Looks like the Huskers are at 299, after getting 3 more in Men's Track & Field. I think all the sports have their teams out now, including the 'Other' category, so it looks like we'll jump over 300 sometime next academic year. Football, announced ages ago, hit the 100 plateau this past year. Couple other notes, if the listing on the website for my wife's alma mater, Augustana (Ill.), is accurate: Her alma mater is still sitting at #6 on the all-time list. They also had 3 selected in Division III for Men's Track & Field. Nebraska Wesleyan is now tied for eighth for total number across all divisions. Pretty impressive. Looks like they jumped from the teens into the top ten over this past year or two. Very nice, and kudos to them! I looked over the site earlier today, and it looked like there were only four categories where we weren't somewhere in the top 10: Men's and Women's Basketball (which our website said the women's team was actually tied for tenth) and Men's and Women's Soccer. Always humbling and impressive to look at the great work our athletes do, not only on the athletic side, but the academic side as well.
  20. Hi Everyone, We are making a documentary film, Through These Gates, about husker fans and their community. We are trying to reach out to the husker community to help us find certain elements for segments of our film. We need home videos, pictures, stories and a few other specific experiences that some husker fans have had. A more detailed list is available on our website, www.huskersfilm.com, under the “Get Involved” tab (http://www.huskersfilm.com/get-involved/) . You can also contact us directly from our website also. We could really use your help to make our film the best that it possibly can be. Thanks, we really appreciate it. Ryan
  21. After improper voting and ballot-stuffing, ESPN has revealed they will restart their ESPN College gameday vote. The winning school will get to film a commercial at their school. Voting is limited to once per day (hopefully for real this time) and will start May 1. Share this page with everyone, starting May1, as im sure me and all other UNL students would LOVE to have the commercial filmed at our school...and we know how good we are at online polls Gamedayvote.com GBR!!!!
  22. It's that time of year again. Time to focus on our own. As always, be funny but be respectful. These are our guys, after all. Edit: Here's another one. Walker Ashburn and Muttley, from Hanna Barbera cartoons.
  23. Big game tonight against Kansas state. Starts at 6:05, I'll be able to update everyone as I will be at work. GO BIG RED Nebraska (19-11, 3-3 Big Ten) at Kansas State (14-13, 3-6 Big 12) Tues., April 3 - 6:35 p.m.: Tyler King, So., LHP (0-0) vs. Kansas State: Jared Moore, So., LHP (2-1) Link to article is https://www.nmnathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?KEY=QKUXWRJQBPBAAHA.20120403175653&SPSID=101&SPID=33&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=205407669&DB_OEM_ID=100
  24. Good job for the guys on the first day! From what I could tell, we had eight of ten weight classes represented. Only one wrestler has been eliminated. Four made it to the quarterfinals, including at least one unranked that I saw. Three are still working their way through the consolation bracket. As far as I could tell, it looks like they award up to eight positions. Huskers sit tied for ninth in team standings. If nothing shows you the power of the the B1G in wrestling, this should - eight of the B1G wrestling teams in the top 15 at the national tournament. Very nice showing from the dominant conference in collegiate wrestling. Keep up the good work tomorrow, guys! Quarters and Semis tomorrow, along with the consolation brackets moving along.
