  7. Here’s the deal. I’ve been on a diet the past six weeks and done reasonably well—not great, but I'm a bit trimmer than when I started. So far I've dropped 13 lbs. I’d like to lose 10 more. But I’m stuck. I need some new ideas/tips for dieting. I’m heavier than I was in college, but I'm not fat by any means—I’m at 200lbs right now (6’3” tall). but I feel like I have a stubborn layer of belly fat that just won’t shed. I’m looking for dieting suggestions to help me shed another 10 lbs. Here are some of the things I’ve been doing: Meals I don't have a rigid diet in place—In general I’ve just been eating less. I skip the occasional meal when I’m not too hungry. Sometimes I’ll have salad only for a meal. Although I do indulge myself with ranch dressing on my salad, which I realize defeats the purpose of having a salad to some extent. Sometimes I’ll make a meal out of two or three helpings of frozen corn or peas that I heat up in the microwave. Sometimes I’ll eat a bowl or two of breakfast cereal for lunch or supper. I don’t eat any potato chips or fast food at all (e.g., McDonalds is verboten) (This one is funny): When I do eat a regular meal I use a smaller plate to eat off of. Instead of using a regular sized dinner plate, I’ve switched to a smaller side-dish plate. Sure it's silly, but it helps me eat less. I drink a beer or two or glass of whiskey just about every evening. I’ve switched to Bud Select 55. Ehh, it’s not so bad. I don’t think there’s a low cal whiskey, so not much I can do sans abstinence. Other Food habits When I drink soda (occasionally) I’ve switched to diet soda. Snacks: I snack at work—impossible to quit. So I’ve switched to carrots, raisins or dates, sunflower seeds, and the occasional apple. I drink a LOT of coffee and iced tea. I don’t think there’s many calories in this. Exercise This is probably an area I could improve on. I walk about twenty flights of stairs per day, and generally walk the dog a mile or so. But don’t have a regular exercise regimen in place. Anyone got any diets that have worked for you? Or eating suggestions?
  8. If you're a customer of Comcast, Cablevision, Time Warner, Verizon, AT&T and some other Internet service providers you better be a little more discreet about visiting file sharing sites come July 12th. I'm shocked that I can't find a news article on this dated after the middle of March. The ISPs have an agreement with RIAA and MPAA to monitor your IP address for "digital piracy". From what little I've been able to find it seems that you don't even have to download copyrighted material to receive warning/punishment. As long as your IP visited a known site that host questionable material and had some kind of data transfer you could be receiving a letter in the mail and eventually slowed or terminated service. http://www.foxnews.c...arting-july-12/ http://www.rawstory....eme-on-july-12/

  11. I know there are some posters here who have been watching the NBA playoffs, so Im just curious to find out everyones thoughts and picks to win it all this year. First of all, the Bulls, with the injury to Derrick Rose and down 2-1 are struggling to find offense. They played half the year without him and did just fine, but now in the playoffs, they are struggling. They better have someone step up quick or they may lose this 1-8 seed series. The Heat now have a clear path to the NBA finals for the second year in a row with Rose being out for the Bulls (assuming the Bulls even make the ECF). The only thing stopping them once they sweep the Knicks are the Celtics. It pains me to say this but the Heat will be in the NBA finals again, I think. If you've been reading my status updates and some posts last year, you should know Im a Dallas/Dirk fan. Im embarrassed by their performance in Game 3. No heart, no effort. Im shocked by this considering they had both game 1 won if it wasnt for a lucky Durant shot (even he said he couldn't see the rim when he put it up) and game 2 came down to the wire and they would have won had they hit some wide open shots (Im looking at you Dirk and you Kidd). Sorry, but it was a huge mistake by Cuban to get rid of Chandler and JJ Bareas and pick up Lamar Odom and Vince Carter Its time for Marion, Kidd and Carter to go. Bring in some young talent and build off Dirk/Terry. Im looking forward to watching Lakers/OKC series, I think OKC makes it to WCF where they will play...the Spurs (barf). Although if the Spurs make it to the NBA finals, I have no choice but to cheer for them against the Heat. If there is one team I hate more than the Spurs, its them. However, I think OKC represents WC in the finals against the Heat. Go WC!

  19. The SEC is prepping new media rights deals, and they're getting a bit of flak from CBS, their major broadcast partner. Specifically, CBS doesn't feel it should pay more to the SEC simply because they added Texas A&M and Missouri: LINK That is just a bit of a slap in the face to the Aggies and Tigers.
