Ignore Function Flaw

Recommended Posts

Is there any way to get the "ignore" tool to also block posts of ignored users quoted by others.

It took me longer than it should have, but I've finally admitted to myself just to ignore some folks. But seeing their posts time after time when they are quoted by others kind of defeats the purpose.

I hopefully have enough self control to continue ignoring, but sometimes it's hard not to poke fun...

So much this. The ignore function is basically useless as long as it allows display of their comments when others respond to them. With so much dips#!ttery, especially in P&R, it is a pretty strong deterrent from even visiting the board. On the plus side, maybe this is how the addiction gets broken.

This is why I stopped using the function.  It really becomes worthless.

Can confirm that the current Ignore function capabilities are what they are. Administrators from other message boards that use the same software as this one have been petitioning the developers for years to be able to ignore/block the user entirely (similar to what you can do on Facebook). Nothing has happened yet.

Assuming this doesn't get changed any time soon, self-control is your best strategy. If you choose to read/engage with someone's post, even if you have them on ignore, that's kind of on you. There's no administrative functionality we have to hand hold the situation any further than what we're able to do right now.
