Thunderin' Bolts vs Omaha NE

Not looking like a good day for B1G baseball.

  • Mich State trailing Notre Dame after 1
  • Indiana down at home to Ball State 4-0
  • Penn St trailing W. Virginia by 1
  • Northwestern trailing 22 - 4 (yep, 22 runs given up in 4 innings to a 13-14 team)
  • at least Michigan is winning.

Let's hope the Huskers are ready to battle tonight. This wind won't make it easy on the hitters. Maybe a night to play small ball. SSW wind might push balls out in left though. Bryce's lane if I'm not mistaking so who knows.. Wish I could be there.

Huskers lose in 10 innings 6-5, to Omaha.

Omaha got runs in 1st inning (1) 2nd inning (1) 3rd inning (2) and 5th inning (1) to take a 5-0 lead.  C.Clark started for the Big Red, lasted 2 innings, giving up 5 hits, 4 runs (3 unearned).  ERA is now 15.07

Huskers scored in bottom of 5th inning (1 run), 6th inning (2 runs - Homer by Swansen), 8th inning (1 run - Homer by Anglim) and tied the game in the bottom of the 9th (Fielders Choice) and had winning run at 3rd with 1 out.

Omaha scored in the top of 10th on a Sac Fly.

Shanaman gets dinged with the lost.  He goes 4 innings, gives up 3 hits, 2 walks, 1 run.  That's baseball.  Even though we know the 1st two Husker pitchers put the team in a hole (down 5-0 through 5 innings, but offense came around to tie it while Shanaman kept them off the scoreboard until the 10th inning).

Seems like Omaha really has the Huskers number the last 2 seasons.  And yes, Boeve (UNO) went 2-3 with 2 walks and a home run against the Huskers.  Loves hitting against Nebraska obviously.

Boeve can freaking rake man. Local kid from Hastings. I was honestly, pretty surprised he came back to UNO after the monster year he had.
