Thunderin' Bolts @ Iowa

Recommended Posts

Really big series for the Skers. Iowa is throwing Brody Brecht tonight who has arguably the best stuff in the Big Ten and barring injury will be a very high draft pick next year. He has freaking electric stuff. If Nebraska can be patient and make him throw strikes they've got a chance to run his pitch count up and get him out of there early. While Brecht strikes out a ton of guys, who has also a penchant for walking dudes as well. Nebraska winning 2/3 on the road would be a tremendous result.

Series Baby, just keep winning series!!

Good post @Xmas32 though sadly, so too do our starters tend to walk batters... Hoping it's not a shoebox zone tonight but after seeing the crazy amount of pitches in the Michigan Rutgers series last weekend (330+ combined in 71/2 innings) I won't be holding my breath. B1G umpiring is way, WAY below other leagues. It's likely subpar of club ball officials.

Link to that games stats

Can you imagine watching a game where 175 and 215 pitches per team respectively? (UM threw the 175 tp btw in a 13-8 victory)

John Coons was behind the plate. Everyone (well most everyone) should know his name. Nebraska has had run ins with him in the past. He should never be allowed to step on a field in a Huskers vs Anybody game. That said, he called a very clean game yesterday and it was refreshing to see. Olson is off right now as evident by his last two starts. Kaminska might do better today. (cold weather usually favors the pitcher)

We need to win the series.. losing 1 game is not the end. Losing today's game will lead to getting swept. Win today and give it all you have tomorrow. Iowa is a talented team. Let's hold off the panic and trust in our dudes!!!

Win Baby!!! GBR
