***The Nebraska Defense - Blackshirts 2023***

Will be interesting to see how this defense adapts to Tony White's scheme once the lights go on.  Guys like Lenhardt and Umanmielan hopefully can build on a good spring game.

Going to be nice to see the best players on the field and depth in positions rather than players on the field because the coach likes them a whole lot.

Figure I'd ask here.  Any ideas or rumors on how Rhule and Co will do this?  Go back to starters get them?

It won't matter how Rhule will give out the Blackshirts, there will be a percentage of the fan base who will complain.

Wow that sounds pretty good going into game 1. 

 

I can get behind this for sure.  Congrats to the earned Blackshirts.  As Rhule and White mention, going to be a lot of rotating to keep the defense playing with fresh guys, bringing energy throughout the games.

Some might not agree with this - and that is ok - we all have our opinions.... 

 

However, in my honest opinion it is really good to see this new defense without Nelson and Farmer out there or Caleb Tanner.  

 

Not saying they were bad players at all.  They contributed, gave their best.  They were on the field for plenty of games for 3-4 years.  I'm simply noting that it is nice or refreshing to see the defense without them, if you know what I mean.

I was never a fan of Farmer but I did like Nelson. Not that he was great but he was a decent college player. Tannor got a little better, but in his defense I never felt like he was used correctly under Chinander.

Yeah, I think there might be *some* that think losing a second-team All-B1G player might not actually be a good thing.  How many of those have we had in the past decade?

 

I think Farmer was probably better than most gave him credit for.  But he and Tanner are definitely replaceable.
