Everyone has a bias of who will play. I think a lot of that is in the decision of Tony White and Rhule. Inversely I am concerned about his recruiting abilities. I think he is a better DB coach. But being at Nebraska is more than just being a good on the field coach.

No doubt but he will form his own bias which wont be for the guys he has recruited becsuse he didnt recruit any of them.  For the most part they have a blank slate.  I would assume your are correct that Rhule and White have a say in who plays but this guys will have the most time with them and have a feel who he can trust on the field.  It really will just be one spot corner spot he really needs to worry about

Agreed.  It seems more burnout / health issues than infractions!

The timeline here suggests it is worse than a health or burnout issue. Now if he signs on as a DC somewhere else, or switches back to a personnel/operations role, then maybe this was orchestrated and planned out. Unfortunately, I suspect there is more of a negative reason for the abrupt news dump on a Friday squeezed between a holiday and a weekend. Hopefully nothing sinister or impacting his personal life too much.

At this stage, his recruiting abilities are a background concern as the season ahead is more important. This might be a multi-year hire, or it could be like last year with the tight ends where a fill-in coach was hired until a more planned solution was made. Needless to say, his departure does not help us at this stage.

Additionally, given the new rules with analysts/assistants, I could certainly see the new QB coach being taken off of recruiting responsibilities and a recruit-centric coach being installed. It's going to be a little funky until the new roles get settled and the rules are fully understood.

It didn’t have anything to do with co-eds but was definitely a reason to resign.

That’s so cryptic.

what are we talking here, Marvin Sanders (allegedly) type stuff? Carl? Keith Williams? Frank?

Damn. We’ve had some things haven’t we….allegedly.

Don’t know of course what actually happened, but it seems Cooper gave Rhule plenty of notice of him resigning. Wilson Dittman was almost freaking out over this until this replacement hire was made. I have gotten where I prefer his Husker football videos over other so-called experts.

I want to like that kid but his football knowledge is lacking and he gets his Husker news from other sources like huskeronline and 247.  Pretty much why he is late responding to evrything.  I understand he is just getting started but hed not "tapped in" just quite yet

Disagree, the quick hire tells me it has been in the process for a while.

He won’t be the only one from the football department that leaves.  We won’t hear about the other person (a woman).  You should be able to put 2 and 2 together from there.

First, no hire has been announced yet. If this has been in the works for awhile and planned, then great! However, given the seemingly close relationship between Rhule and Cooper, I assume that a planned transition would not have included a Friday afternoon news dump without an immediate hire to fulfill the spot. Although I hope this was a planned transition and Cooper is still able to support the program in some capacity, I'm skeptical.

We have someone hired and it has been in the works for a while.
