TGHusker
I’d like to see these subjects separated into 2 separate forums. They are related. I like to see healthy discussion of theology, church, personal faith and related topics. Faith issues tend to be looked upon with skepticism in the political threads and I think their could be better discussion if religion and spirituality had its own place. 1 Quote Link to comment
JJ Husker
Breaking out a separate forum header (which isn’t going to happen) won’t help a thing. You can try focusing the topic towards being religion specific with the topic title but people will still be free to put their own political spin on things….and they will. I understand what you desire but I don’t see how it would be possible within Huskerboard. Probably need to find a message board with that sole purpose, where politics can be moderated out of the discussion. I don’t see how that’s possible here. It’s already a miracle, or travesty, depending on your pov that HB, a primarily sports oriented board, tolerates political and religious discussion at all. I have to believe there are more suitable places elsewhere for theology discussion. jmo 2 Quote Link to comment
Guy Chamberlin
I've seen a lot of honesty, respect and thought in the handful of religious topics that have been posted on P&R. Quote Link to comment
admo
@TGHusker That's really not a bad idea. Quote Link to comment
Enhance
Thanks for taking the time to submit this idea and feedback, TG. I can see where you're coming from with wanting to create a separate space for theological and faith-related discussions, but I don't personally think it's the right direction for the board. P&R are deeply interwined and I think it would be difficult to cleanly separate those topics into two areas. The conversations often and naturally bleed into the other and drawing that line could be more confusing than helpful. And, while we definitely encourage faith-based discussions, the current activity levels don't really show enough interest to justify creating a whole new sub-forum for it. I see roughly 38 threads on the first page of the current sub-forum and only one appears to be specifically focused on religion. That said, you're more than welcome to start threads that focus on faith and spirituality and we'll encourage respectful and thoughtful conversation around them. But at the end of the day this is a Husker football forum and there are probably better platforms out there for deeper, ongoing discussions of faith. Quote Link to comment
admo
@TGHusker @Enhance recommends or suggests that you and others find a different message board for this type of discussion. When he clearly says "But at the end of the day this is a Husker football forum and there are probably better platforms out there for deeper, ongoing discussions of faith." Although I wonder why for a minute, I came to the conclusion that his recommendation is best. When you consider the P&R folks/crowd on Huskerboard, this is definitely not a place to talk about spirituality, faith, the Gospel, different religions of the world, and of course, the after life. A faith-based sub-forum on HB would most likely become a lower level discussion, IMO, by possibly incorporating political concepts into talks and using persuasion and tweets and satire at it's finest hour. So I agree with him. Find other message boards and advanced sites that, no matter what the differences are, they will welcome those members who want to share, listen, learn and participate in advanced discussions on spirituality, faith, mortality, religions, life after death, practicing your faith, returning back to God (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam), Heaven and a divine being/Creator (as some Native Americans pray or call out to "Creator"). Here are links to some message boards. There are a lot, but this is just a few. I hope it helps https://www.spiritualforums.com/ https://www.religiousforums.com/ https://www.christianforums.com/ 1 Quote Link to comment

Guy Chamberlin
Hey, what about my thoughtful feedback? Seriously, while religious topics have not driven the posts and views of political topics, haven't you found those discussions and posters to be generally thoughtful, enlightening and respectful? While the responses have been modest in number, I don't see why there would be more and better responses if Religion had its own thread. Quote Link to comment
