We've seen 25% of the regular season. How many regular season wins will NU have?

Nebraska has been at, or near, the bottom of the B1G for several years.  Every game that is left on the schedule is a game they have lost, or likely would have lost, in the last 5-10 years.  I'll be happy to see them get to 6 wins.  Anything over 6 is a bonus.  I know they are "chasing 3" to show a huge improvement in records, but those other teams have also been practicing to hopefully win by more than 3.  The 'gimmes" are over.  Ever win from here on out has to be earned the good ol' fashioned way, aka playing good football.

I expect you to be having a lot more "fun" by the end of the year.

 

Before the season, I wanted to say 9 but scaled back to 8.  Feeling like 9 now.

I'm just Still not confident enough in our offense.. Defense will struggle a little more this year as B1G opponents will have experienced Tony White's defense previously. Still not getting enough turnovers on defense (rip the dang ball out) and Dylan, as awesome as he's looked, is just a freshman. Big Boy football begins now.. I have us winning 8.

Who are the 4 losses going to be against?  Not to burst a bubble, but if we really finish 5-4 from here on out that'll take quite a bit of wind out of my sails.  It would mean we lose to ohio state and then probably 2 losses against clearly inferior teams.  USC a toss up right now, will give them the edge given recent history.

tOSU, USC, Indiana, Wisky/Iowa (both rival games, one on the road with a short week) The good thing about the Wisky game is their schedule.. PSU, @Iowa, BYE, Oregon, @Neby... So they might be a little beaten up... Still, it's going to be a fight for sure.

We will be underdogs to Indiana, Ohio State, and USC.  Indiana currently sits at a 30% win probability.  If played today, we would be massive underdogs to USC and Ohio State since those games are on the road.  Iowa sits as a pickem according to FPI with the game at Iowa. 

 

One reason for hesitation is we haven't seen what we will look like on the road.  The environment at home has been off the charts this year creating a huge home field advantage.

the other good thing about wisky is they look like complete dog s#!t.  We should've beaten them 3 out of the last 4 years, I will be dissappointed if we dont floor them by 3 + scores and finally get that program off our back.

Assuming health is there, the only clear underdog game is tOSU.  jury still out on USC for me- they should've lost to an LSU squad that has looked uninspiring and is a few seconds away from sitting at 1-2.

 

I cant wait for us to get out on the road- less distractions might be a good thing for this young offense.  While the home environment has been off the charts, that comes with a lot of distractions and pressure

This is where I am right now.  We should have beaten a lot of teams the last few years and we didn't.  I want to believe that they will finally make that happen this year, and I'm getting really close to that switch being flipped.  But, right or wrong, I want to see it in BIG10 play.  If we beat Ill. and cover like we should that is going to push me over the edge into full on Kool Aid dive into the deep end.

Love to optimism but in general, playing on the road is a heck of a lot harder.  Our defense has been helped a lot by the crowd noise.  Interesting take on the pressure for the offense.  Hope you are right.  I'm ready to drink some Kool-Aid but just can't bring myself to fill up the glass just yet.

Seems like every year we see teams not expected to do well have great seasons. Even a team like Northwestern has had those moments in the past. Why not Nebraska? We should already have more of an advantage than many of those past teams. I'm not saying this will happen, but anything is possible.

I mean some teams have it by chance, i think we're just finally moving in the right direction on the "fielding a competent team across offense and defense".  this is a quote from mitch sherman last nov:

 

"Consider that Nebraska has produced only one positive-margin season since 2009 and two since 2003. In the past 10 years, including this season, the Huskers sit at minus-49. And that’s not as bad as the previous decade. From 2004 to 2013, they came in at minus-62"

 

We've often had better talent than most of our peers but it was talent that was often poorly developed.  Not to mention our QBs, the most important position in all of sports, have been turnover machines for close to 10-15 years now.  

 

We knew we had a solid defense, now we have an offense that can pop but also shown to protect the ball from the qb spot.  That alone would've turned around so many those 1 possession losses to 1-2 possession wins had we had that combo at any point in the last 15 years

I love seeing that out of the 46 people (at the time of typing this) have picked us to win no fewer than 7 games.  It’s been way too long and I can’t wait to get back to a bowl game.

Considering recent history, us losing to clearly inferior teams is not something I'd put past us just yet. Looks less likely than before, but I do not feel we're at a point where we can feel that comfortable.
