I had us at 9-3 before the season started.  3 games are in the books, and the Huskers can go 6-3 the rest of the way.  However, I am now slightly leaning towards 10 wins.  Let me explain.

We have 3 wins

So far, iLLinois, Indiana and Rutgers are playing better this year than they have recently.  But so are the Huskers.  And NU is playing better than all three of them.  Not by a wide margin, but still, better.  These are winnable games for NU.  Huskers should be expected to go 3-0 against them.  2-1 at the very least.

Purdue and UCLA are really, really bad teams.  2 wins

Wisconsin's starting QB is out for the year.  They are going to struggle scoring points with their backup QBs.  I feel like the Huskers should expect to win this game, especially if NU gets an early lead.  I don't see Wisky playing well from behind.  That's another Win.

Iowa might be better as the year goes.  It is difficult for visiting teams to win there.  But like Wisconsin, an early lead by the Huskers of 10-14 points will be difficult for Iowa to play catch-up.  Especially since they run 30 seconds off the play clock each darn play.   Husker Win.

USC and OSU should be favored to win.  But these games might be closer and come down to the 4th quarter.

So yeah, 6-3 the rest of the way, or 7-2.  Add our 3 wins from non-con and we should be good.

I like your thinking.   I was in the 9 win camp before games started and thought 10 was possible if DR really came on fast.

Pinch me, but how special are Raiola, Carter, and Barney?  I guess those recruiting stars might be right after all.  This year’s potential is definitely 10 wins.

im not worried about tomorrow(fingers crossed). I’m a little wait and see on road games.

I had us at 8-4 but I think you are on to something with this thinking.  After 6 years of one score losses, I still get the 'hebe jebe's' :madasheyeswear2allthatsholy:ohnoes that I'm going to kick my TV or throw out my computer :throw once again.  It is hard to get over that 'what shoe will drop next' feeling and just freely drink :koolaid2:.   I think if we do well tonight, I will feel much better.  The very optimistic part of me wants to say - We will beat every team on our schedule not named Ohio State - but we'll give OSU a run for their money in their place.  At this point I don't see 4 losses on the schedule so I can see a 9-3 as very obtainable, 10-2 as hopeful, 11-1 as wildest dreams.

Is it wrong if I would be disappointed with 8 wins?

Take care of business vs Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers, UCLA, and Wisconsin (all games we will be at least a TD favorite).  That gets to 8.

Sigh.  Keep playing like tonight and 6 wins will be a battle.

Adjusting it to 7 wins. That’s being generous.

I had Nebraska at 6-6 this season, but I hope they can go 7-5 and clinch a winning record.

The path isn't easy. They'll have to beat Purdue and UCLA, bad teams, to make it to 5 wins.

Teams like Indiana, OSU and USC all have more dynamic passing attacks than Illinois which is extremely concerning, I think NU loses all 3.

In order to get to 7 wins, Nebraska has to win 2 out of Rutgers, Wisconsin (who we haven't beat since Obama's first term) and an Iowa team we've beat twice in the last decade. It's going to be difficult to get to 7.

Nebraska has been at, or near, the bottom of the B1G for several years.  Every game that is left on the schedule is a game they have lost, or likely would have lost, in the last 5-10 years.  I'll be happy to see them get to 6 wins.  Anything over 6 is a bonus.  I know they are "chasing 3" to show a huge improvement in records, but those other teams have also been practicing to hopefully win by more than 3.  The 'gimmes" are over.  Ever win from here on out has to be earned the good ol' fashioned way, aka playing good football.

Sticking with this.

I do believe they get to 6 or 7 wins and go to a bowl.

5 total wins.   6 or 7 is the ceiling.  We have no kicker and the defense is worse this year.  We got beat by an Illinois team that we beat on the road 20-7 last year.

Games decided by single digits at Nebraska:

Bo Pelini 20-11

Bill Callahan 10-7

Mike Riley 7-10

Scott Frost 5-22

Matt Rhule 1-6.

I'd say the D is about the same.  Neither the '23 or this group is elite.  They cannot get off the field on 3rd down.

We should consider this season a success if we make a bowl game.  Our coaches get out-coached, we have a terrible ST, and we are weak on each LOS.  Dylan is the lone bright spot.  He's playing with a bunch of petulant kids with no discipline.
