Purdue - What did we learn?

There is an entire thread about the hiring of Ed Foley as the special teams coach. There is also a thread about Rhule hiring Maher to work with the kickers.

The two blocked fgs, the snaps were atrocious. I didn't see the snap on the first miss.

The third one could been made. It wasn’t a good snap, but it was down in time.   It was a jest full comment about the ST coach.

From what I could see on TV, the guy snapping the ball for fieldgoals was putting it on the ground most of the time. It's a wonder we didn't have fumbles instead of bad kicks.
Also, can the punter Buschini kick field goals? How could he be worse?

Does anybody here have eligibility left? Can you get down there?

However, we cannot just rely on the QB to fix things. Raiola needs help. Having a reliable kicker that makes FG when needed helps play calling and takes pressure from the QB.

no one here is saying the team can just rely on the QB.  And of course we all here agree Dylan needs help and a good kicker can be the difference between a win and loss.

But you are changing one of your taking points that seemed to suggest Rhule wasn’t changing things for the better.

It didn’t work last week

Well if you are expecting to never lose a game then I guess the standard in your mind is nothing is ever gonna work.

That’s all good and dandy, but someone on here says Rhule hasn’t improved things so we should just dismiss those improvements you just noted.

It’s obvious to those who watch with an open mind that two things can be true.   The team is in a better position this year than last year and the team still has lots of room to improve on the little details of playing football like WR blocking technique, long snapping, kicking (a bigger detail) etc…

I learned this.

Peacock sucks.

I've learned that I'm in the minority on this, but in 60 years of watching Husker football, I don't recall the announcers ever affected my enjoyment of the game one way or the other, with the possible exception of the great Keith Jackson.

We can debate a lot of things about this team, but there's no way around the lack of a field goal threat and how that will impact all the other good & bad stuff.

Without too much finger pointing, how did this happen? I know Alvano is injured, but pretty sure we considered him a weak link last year, too.

I’m with you on complaining about announcers. Heck, I hardly ever listen to them.

Im talking about everything associated with the broadcast.

I re-learned that I dislike Satterfield as an OC/playcaller. He would be an excellent offensive analyst, but I can’t stand watching playcalling in the red zone, especially in Goal-to-Go downs.

Going back to last season, he overthinks game situation and under thinks personnel where it cost up to 3 potential wins. That Carter Nelson over the top call, even if it worked, boneheaded. I’d be pissed if I were a running back.

Listened to Carriker gut reaction, he mentioned a quote from Satterfield earlier this week about run game philosophy. Dude never once dedicated to the run game against one of the worst rushing defenses in CFB.

Pay him to stick around Lincoln for game planning and offensive scheme install. However, just completely out on Satterfield having anything to do with in-game coaching.
