Our fanbase can be so fatalistic.  Go outside and touch some grass.

He was a true freshman QB.  He was a middle of the pack QB in the B1G this year.  There is no reason to believe that he will not be a better QB next year (especially with Dana at the helm compared to Satt).  Depending on who declares for the draft, he might be the top returning QB in the B1G next year (non-portal additions).

I’m not trying to be dramatic.  I think he’s going to be an average QB.

He has behaviors I don’t care for.  I don’t think he’s a winner.  He makes some great plays.  He will improve slightly but I’m hopeful Rhule doesn’t pull a Frost and try to ride it out with a QB that can’t deliver.  I feel like we are approaching yet another off season where we are expecting players took look different in August.

edit:  Holgorsen is the X factor.  I think he may be able to break through with Raiola.

There is a reason true freshmen QBs rarely ever start, because being a QB is damn hard.

Do other team's fans sit around and lament that their young highly recruited QB will never improve and destined to be average for his whole career?  Are Tennessee fans on their message boards saying that they need a new QB because their RFr QB (who has slightly better numbers than Dylan) won't improve?

How the hell would I know?  Or care?

They don’t start because there are better players on their roster.

He came here to be the guy.  He took a paycheck.  He had his Pat Mahomes extreme makeover.  He runs out on the field by himself in front of the rest of the team.  He stands off by himself during TV timeouts. He sits at other NU athletic events and takes the standing ovations.  I happen to think he’s an attention whore.

He’s the best we got.  Go play football bruh.

I agree QB concerns me. I’m not ready to say he won’t get better but I don’t want no damn freshman excuses. I don’t care if you are 18 or 22. If you win the starting job you are expected to play at a standard befitting a P2 starter. No more excuses and bulls#!t. Yeah he is 18, who cares if he is a starter he plays to the standard not lower our standard cause a freshman won the job. He is a millionaire starting QB. Perform

Which true freshmen QB with an offensive talent roster like NU has performed up to your expectations in the past 10 years?

DR has plenty of room to develop and grow.  If he wasn’t good enough this year that’s on the coaches for putting him out there vs having someone with more experience for him to learn under for a year.

There could be numerous problems

1. was it a requirement of his commitment he would start?
2. poor options on the roster if DR was the only option

I don’t care what grade you’re in. If u start you meet the expectations of the starting QB at Nebraska. Throwing the ball to open receivers is pretty basic

Couch potatoe statement.

The 4th string QB at Iowa did it yesterday.

I also believe a WR at the collegiate level should catch a ball that hits his hands when he is wide open. Do you? Or is that hard too

Now I will agree with that.  My argument is not that he is a freshman, but acknowledge that he is.  He is the starter & needs to make plays, but our main problem is poor OC with average talent around him, including o-line.

Again.   Each of those is a coaching issue not a player issue.   If a HS senior player is gonna dictate who the starter is before even practicing a single snap, that’s on the coach for not having a better option.

if the starter is not “ meeting the expectations” then it’s incumbent on the HC to make a change, not the player to take himself out.
