Husker in WI
Rhule was asked if Coleman was available, and he kinda bristled and said it wasn't fair to the seniors to talk about redshirting players on a Thursday of game week. Proceeded to immediately give a very thorough answer about another redshirting player in Quinn Clark. One difference is Clark is practicing with the ones, but Rhule made sure to clarify he might not make it into the game - he's just practicing with that group and doing well. So uh, yeah - I think that pretty much confirms it with Coleman, if there was even any doubt left. A little weird to not just say he's not on the team, but probably didn't want that to be the viral soundbite of the press conference. 2 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Lunchbucket
https://youtu.be/rtmX72zayeo?si=jk8dcuSSXF2Dyach this guy talked to a player on the team and confirmed it. Granted second hand 1 Quote Link to comment
gossamorharpy
Our stellar WR coach not only incapable of coaching the current starters up to an average level but now losing highly sought after talent. Yayyyyyy 3 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Caliborn72
I understand the frustration with the position group and the offense in general. But Coleman was given a very nice NIL deal to come here and then he used the threat of going to Deion Sanders and Colorado to get an even bigger NIL deal. At some point, it’s on him to play his way onto the field and if he’s not doing that, then I blame him not the coaches. 3 1 Quote Link to comment

If you've been paying attention, Coleman has been a walking red flag since before he got on campus. That post did make me giggle a little bit at my desk at work lol 1 Quote Link to comment

We won’t know the actual reasons why he’s leaving for some time, possibly never will. But I can’t necessarily blame the kid- he was a top 100 recruit with size and speed and I felt like pretty serviceable blocking ability… here the kid is staring up the depth chart at complete incompetence displayed on the field by 2 upperclassmen transfers, one of which was picked to be a team leader and received a dumb single digit jersey. There was also the weird, is he injured is he not cloud which was addressed early when Sam m asked Rhule in the presser about him and reported he’s healthy but will redshirt. Receiver is a position you can make an early impact on and we saw glimpses of this last year. took Dana all of 2 weeks to come in and call out publicly what we’ve all been saying for 2 months now about this WR group. That group has vastly underperformed the second we played p5 teams and yet not a single notable change was made. There’s no doubt “red flags” and more behind the scenes we aren’t privy too but there is also GLARING red flags with some of the receivers play on Saturdays, which matters most, that essentially got a pass all year 3 Quote Link to comment
308_Husker
I guess it perplexes me that a kid, who donates all of his NIL money to kids in foster care, has this many issues with the coaches. I always thought he was a high character kid. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

I always thought he was a high character kid. Great PR campaign. I did like his push to bring better awareness and donations to the foster care programs, that was a surprise given his age. I think he is a good kid, but the talent and aspirations have not aligned with the work ethic up to this stage in life. Really hope he spends the next few weeks figuring out what he wants with his academics and football future. If that's here, great! If it's not, best of luck! As for the program, the old adage remains true... winning cures all. 2 Quote Link to comment

My coaches loved me in high school because I was a good kid, but I did not work hard in practice or in the weight room. 2 Quote Link to comment

Does it suck? Sure, but Barney has doubled Coleman’s production as a freshmen. Lloyd has also produced more than Coleman last year. Coleman has been dealing with various injuries since his senior year. I’m pretty sure he dealt with one from Spring to Fall. He was also seen as a developmental receiver out of HS. Not sure of the QB situation, but he regressed from his junior to senior year. Only had 496 yards and 6 TDs. In comparison to other players on the team, he had less yards than McMorris, Hall, Lloyd. Other notables who aren’t on the team, but out produced him statistically are Brahmer (ISU TE), Chase Loftin, and Lance Rucker (ND). Side note is I do believe McGuire is out next year and we have his replacement on staff already in Mozee but we’ll see. 1 Quote Link to comment

Im not bitter or upset lol, not losing sleep over a player walking away who was a non contributor on the field, this isn’t like a Haussman leaving to Michigan scenario at all i was responding to the poster who gave Coleman grief for signing here, then threatening to leave to Colorado and insinuating he did Nebraska a disservice by driving up his NIL. Can’t blame the kid for leaving if this isn’t for him more bitter that we’ve been piss poor offensively at the wide out spot all year and look slow as hell and we didn’t really try to use a giant with speed. I’ll also use this soapbox to say I hope we see Carter Nelson used these last few weeks, preserving eligibility is pointless in todays game for skill guys and he brings plenty speed and explosiveness to the table for his size 1 Quote Link to comment

So yeah, we should be using him more because the redshirt is already burned and he's an athlete. Quote Link to comment

I figured he disappeared cause he got some early games in and we didn’t want to go past 4, lovely! Quote Link to comment

But it's not all that far-fetched to think he thought he could contribute and was never going to get a chance because the guys ahead of him still got all the playing time even though they were barely contributing anything meaningful. Kind of hard to not think you're just not getting a fair shake. 1 Quote Link to comment
