Did anybody mention or notice that Dylan was not sliding to avoid being tackled as much?  Maybe that was situational more than what I am thinking that a slight difference in coaching ("stop doing that")?

But this was the biggest change from my point of view.  We got DR to get the ball out of his hands, take the yards that were there and keep the chains moving.  He's had receivers open, he just wouldn't throw to them.  He was today.

 

He was still 0/4 throwing the ball 20+ yards downfield.  But he was 28/34 on everything else, because he was taking the easy ones.

2 of those are on Neyor, one drop and one where he could’ve had a TD with better footwork.  Some of us have been saying he’s been at least part of the problem with the passing game since early in the season.

I agree with you,  That was my point.  Fidone doesn't make those plays.  The other 2 were.

Did he even scramble to be able to slide?  Drawing a blank of him trying to get up field

Well he certainly didn’t slide at the end of the UCLA game and got absolutely crushed.  I would prefer our #1 quarterback takes as few hits as possible and I think our coaches feel the same

Raiola still does not see the whole field. The OL is giving him a lot of time and they have done great the last two games. I think that he will get better with more games under his belt and Dana and his play calling will help Raiola with more games. Let us face it, Raiola is not a running QB and we don’t want him to be. We just need him to get the ball out of his hands quickly and try not to telegraph his throws. For the first time in a long time, I feel better about our offense. I am worried about our defense. Our secondary is struggling.

White is already among the top 15 highest paid DC's. Saying they should "open up the checkbook" suggests they're being stingy, which they're not. White is a very good DC.

 

It also overlooks the fact Nebraska has already significantly invested into a coach who has brought tangible improvements to the defense in his first two years. Replacing a coordinator isn't just about writing a bigger check; it involves overhauling defensive schemes, retraining players, and potentially losing recruits. Continuity is crucial for building a successful program and frequent coaching changes can hinder growth/cohesion. Quick fixes can sometimes help (see Dana H.'s hire) but I don't think Nebraska or Rhule think Tony White is a problem.

It’s only one game and duh, it’s fun to win games. But it was nice to see the joy in their faces, the smiling, the fun they were having on the field in the 4th quarter. 
 

Tendency has been to let off the gas after a nice performance, I hope they can parlay yesterday into another strong showing Friday. Don’t feel content getting bowl eligible, go wreck Iowa and seal a winning season!

Just from my eyes, it has always seemed to me that Boerk was a better football player than Fidone.  I think Boerk walked yesterday as a Senior, but he does have 1 year left.  Hope he comes back.

DB confirmed somewhere that Mekhi Nelson was the young player mentioned by Holgo this week.  Supposedly we had a package of plays for him that we took out of the game plan late in the week.

On the plus side…don’t think we are gonna have to worry as much about the secondary this upcoming week. 
Iowa ran the ball like 53 times vs Maryland!

Not much if at all... come to think of it.  Different offense operation all around I guess.  A rewatch is warranted... not just for that.

You are right but I also doubt we can stop Kaleb Johnson. He will run it down our throats all day long. Iowa do not make mistakes and they are disciplined and stick to their identify. It will take an excellent game on all three phases for us to pull the win at Iowa. Our defense has been questionable at times.

The decision to bench Fidone is one of them. Watching his backup rumble for major yards after contact sends the message that individual effort is up to the individual. My understanding is that Rhule gave that speech to the team this week. That's pretty obvious advice you'd assumed coaches had been giving all season, but it did seem to have teamwide results. 

 

Holgorsen didn't exactly reinvent the wheel with this offense. They ran a lot of the same plays they've run all season. But the calls were situationally much better, and were matched by execution. 

With Dana taking over, it seems like he has no favorites and he is just playing those who produce versus those who Satt thought should play. It was evident that the players were trying to show their worth and played hard. Benching Fidone sent a message that if you hurt the team more than you help, you will ride the bench. Hopefully, this remains to be the guiding principle.

Every offense we play figures out how to move the ball.  We’ve been very fortunate they can’t score of miss FGs.

I believe this is what has ruined our last decade+.
