teachercd
I know some of you are truck guys and I am really leaning towards getting one. What are your thoughts on Ford, Chevy, Dodge, GMC, KIA (I think they are two trucks??) and thoughts on used trucks? @JJ Husker I think you said you drive a big truck to make up for what I am guessing is a pretty average sized dong, I am in the same boat. 4 Quote Link to comment

Haha. Mine is just an embarrassingly normal size….truck, and dong unfortunately. You’re really opening up a can of worms with the Ford-GMC-Dodge inquiry. 😆 Some of “those” truck guys take it pretty seriously. I’ve always been a GMC guy. Have been very happy with my Sierra (1500 gas, not the tiny dong 2500 diesel). But I don’t think KIA makes a truck, could be wrong. 1 Quote Link to comment

I really like the looks of GMC trucks! And you are right, the Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge debate gets heated! 1 Quote Link to comment

My whole family has always had Toyotas and we've never had any issues, except when my wife totaled our 4Runner a few years ago - not hers or the vehicles fault (black ice). I'd just go test drive a bunch of different ones and see what you like. I hate "truck brand" guys. Like they're all pretty much the same. Are you using it for actual truck stuff or just to feel good about yourself? My FIL drives a big a$$ Dodge but that's cuz he hauls their 5th wheel all spring/summer/fall for camping. 2 Quote Link to comment

I swear one of them makes a truck now! Hauling stuff? No, not really, I mean I just like how they look and how they drive. But I don't intend to actually ever use it for like "manly" stuff. I drove a friends Dodge Ram and it was really nice. 1 Quote Link to comment
DevoHusker
If you want full size, you can take your pick. Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, Ram, Toyota are all pretty similar. If you want mid/small size...get a Tacoma or a Ridgeline. I know folks with each, and have purchased more than one. BTW pretty sure Hyundai does make a pickup/hybrid. 1 Quote Link to comment
teachercd
I LOVE the ridgeline! 2 Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
I've had everything mentioned over my life. Ford, GMC, Chevy, Ram, 1/2 ton, Heavy 3/4 ton, Heavy 1 ton.....I now own a Toyota Tundra 1/2 ton and love it. I don't pull anywhere close to what I used to, so the 1/2 ton is just fine. This has by far enough power to pull my boat. Someone said, they are all similar. Sure, but when I went from my Chevy 1/2 ton to my Toyota 1/2 ton, there was a noticeable difference in just design of different things. I absolutely love the big screen in the Tundra. It's easy to see and work with when driving. I do have the stepped up version 1794 TRD Off Road package....which is dang nice. Right now, I would have a hard time going back to any of the other brands. If I were to want a smaller truck, I would go with the Tacoma. As for used trucks, up till my current truck I bought new, I always bought used. There are people who love trading trucks off every two years. Find their truck on the lot. It's usually been very well taken care of and has 20-30,000 miles. Saves a lot of money. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
JJ Husker
I can’t comment on any other than GMC. Have never driven or looked at the others. A friend of mine owns the local GMC-Buick dealership so I just go to him. But I’ve really liked all my Yukons, Yukon XLs and Sierras over the years. I did have a Canyon before my current Sierra and it would be great for just zipping around town but I didn’t like the lack of power/acceleration when I would take it down I-25 to Denver so I switched to the full size 1/2 ton with a bigger engine. Of course the trade off was gas mileage… It used to be that the GMCs were a bit more comfortable/luxurious but I think everyone else has caught up in that aspect. Have heard good things about Tundra and Ram/Dodge. Quote Link to comment
DevoHusker
How about a Jeep Gladiator? No idea if they're any good, but look pretty bada$$ Quote Link to comment
Decked
Buy a V8. At least if you're going for Ford & full sized. Ecoboosts are s#!t. The gas mileage claims are all lies & they aren't reliable. They are peppy. But not an if but a when your ecoboost is going to cost you an arm or a leg. 5.0 or bust. I would have no quarrels with a V8 dodge or chevy. My father bought a 2022 Ram and it is awesome. More than comfortable/quiet ride to Texas, Wisconsin, and other places. Midsized trucks Tacomas are the best quality but don't do well in the gas department. They are also the most expensive in that market but hold their value. I am still driving my 09 F-150 daily w/195k miles. I am also more than due. Unfortunately or fortunately I am a cheap bastard with other expensive hobbies that doesn't want a payment. 1 Quote Link to comment

I am not super worried about the miles because I feel like a lot of people take really good care of their trucks. Quote Link to comment

Would you feel okay about buying a used truck and if so would the miles matter to you or would the year of the truck matter more? Quote Link to comment
runningblind
I drove all of the brands a couple years ago and ended up buying a Tundra. I love it, awesome truck. Quote Link to comment
