Seems like a pretty good hire. I remember him from Pelini's early years, particularly his energy. This image pops into my head any time I hear his name.

Also, one of the coldest friggin games I've ever been to.

Dude! I was a dumbass and wore mesh sneaker and regular socks to that game. Couldn't feel my feet the whole walk back to Able that night.

lol I'm trying to remember exactly which part of me was suffering the most that game. I remember I had brought my big Carhartt jacket, but there was just a lot of cold wind and I don't think I had any kind of beanie or face protection. Just brutal.

I cut my suffering early, though. I had plans to go back to Omaha for the night so to beat traffic I walked back to my dorm in Cather sometime near the end of the 3rd quarter.

I don't think we could find a downgrade from Foley, so pocket lint might have been on par with him, but this is definitely an upgrade.

Who did Mike Riley give half a million a year to for ST coordinator? THAT guy would be a downgrade from Foley, maybe my memory isn't so good anymore but I'm not sure that guy did anything but collect a check

I don't think we were worse at ST under Riley... but time heals wounds.

We were mid 20's in 2015, 16th in 2016 and 12th in 2017 from a quick search in ST efficiency.  Tennessee under Ekeler was 9th in 2024 by the same metric.  People just love to remember whatever they want to about the past.  There were some breakdowns under Riley in ST, but they were worlds better than under Frost the whole time, and under Rhule so far.

From Nebraska. Was coaching at Nebraska when Pelini was here. High energy guy. Huge upgrade from Foley

I was going to say that his energy compared to Foley is like the rabbit that actually is smart enough to win the race vs the turtle.
