2026 Season Notes

Not sure what is going on. Trying to get some insight. Way too many leaving. I know that the NIL within the program isn’t great, I heard some scholly being reduced or pulled (?), also know that this staff isn’t for everyone.  Maybe it is also just the world we now live in, but I think Silva makes 9-10 already, in just 3 or so days.

From a quick question or two to a relatively current former player(s) whom are still connected to the team suggest it is a $$ issue. Take it for what is worth…

supposedly UNL won’t revenue share with baseball program bc it is non revenue(downfall of using Saltdogs facilities)… NIL has never been strong for baseball… apparently just down to our 14.5 scholly…. Also was told that the $$ for living is going away.  The player I talked to was getting over $200 a week and heard that was being taken away…. Was also told that unfortunately, more names to follow.

again, I am not swearing on this or claim for it all to be true, but just what I was able to quickly dig up.

if this is remotely accurate, the staff, whether you like them or not, will be hamstrung and will struggle getting guys. I saw where the recruitment of Cooper was pulled and that is why he formerly decommited, creating a negative vibe from some fans.

While I want football to get back into the top tier, I prefer it doesn't have to happen at the expense of other sports, especially one that has had some success.

Since I don't know enough about baseball recruiting, I was hopeful this mass to the portal was SOP. But with a couple of "big" names mentioned and the scenario described above, could be the end of a competitive program.

Not saying your wrong, but Dannen is a big proponent of the Sears cup. This means success in all sports.

What's the saying about wishing in one hand, and crapping in the other to see which one fills up first? Wanting success in all programs and actually doing what that requires aren't the same.

Agree, but the comments are basically saying the administration is abanding financial support for baseball.  I just hope it's not true.

That would be a shame for sure. Tough enough already playing in a weak baseball conference to build a program.

Sorry, this was on Cooper. If you didn’t sign in November, then you were not promised anything.  He chose to stay around waiting. I’m sure he was told that they were only signing Juco guys in November because of the possibility of the mandatory roster reduction.  They did say there was a likely hood that after the April 8th (House Settlement) there might be more spots open and then they could sign more freshman.  And I think only one freshman  has actually signed.

This is not daddy ball anymore. If you had half a brain and could check your ego, you could figure out mathematically what was going happen. These coaches have to put the best team out there. Their jobs depend on it. Very few will be taking freshman anymore. No time to develop.

Im tired of the whining by the 2025 class. I know for a fact no one lied to them, they chose to ride out.  Just plain delusional. Then they want to cry about it on social media.  See how that works for them
