College tuition and now they are voting to give illegal aliens social security, beats me!!

You got that emailed to you too?

I thought it was a Hoax...Social Security Petition

Big Picture:

We are going to need more illegal aliens to help support the anslaught of retiring boomers.

I agree though, that we should better control the borders, criminal background checks. Assure the masses that they aren't getting bennefits, unless they become naturalized..

Out here in Oregon there is a ton of Oregonized crime! The illegals actually do get drivers licenses. Not only that but they can check a box on the form and instantly HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This way the votes can be swayed. WTH I was at a government facility and they are the ones that broght this to my attention. If any of you actually looked into the laws in this state you would be absolutely astonished. I'll say it again, OREGONIZED Crime!

I once took a test for a State Forensics Lab job with about 250 others..I was the only non-Asian there that I could see.

Still..The only way to win this thing as a Nation, is "Survival of the Fittest"

If the "Others" take our jobs..We need to Train for better jobs..It beats relocating our Factories to S.E.Asia (What happened to my last job).

Bush is trying to give illegals social security. He has the agreement with Mexico sitting on his desk and just can't sign it into law until the illegals are given amnesty first. Basically the agreement says mexican citizens can get american social security after ten years and the time they work in Mexico is combined with the time they work here. So if they pay into the Mexican system for 8 years in Mexico, then work in the states here for 2 more years, then they qualify for american SS benefits.

High level officials in the Bush White House have said in other interviews they don't believe the SS agreement with Mexico has to work its way through congress to get approval. They have cited NAFTA as all the legal authority needed for Bush to just sign the agreement into law.

Social Security for illegal aliens

By Stephen Dinan

THE WASHINGTON TIMES

January 4, 2007

An agreement the Bush administration reached with Mexico on Social Security benefits would allow illegal aliens granted amnesty in the future to claim credit for the time they worked illegally.

The deal was reached in 2004 but never released publicly because it hasn't been submitted to Congress. The TREA Senior Citizens League, a Social Security advocacy group, recently obtained the document through a Freedom of Information Act, and said it confirms the group's worst fears.

The document is a jumble of definitions and legal language, but a spokesman for the group said what's important is what's not in the text: It does nothing to prevent undocumented aliens who later get legal status from receiving benefits for the time they worked illegally. And that comes as the Social Security system's finances are about to be put under greater strain by the retirement of baby boomers.

"If you open up the trust fund to people who have been working in the country illegally for many years, that bankruptcy date can only come sooner," spokesman Brad Phillips said. "People on the other side of this, people who have been arguing that of course illegal aliens can't get their hands on Social Security benefits, now can't make that argument easily anymore."

But Mark Lassiter, a spokesman for the Social Security Administration, said the agreement doesn't change U.S. law. The law states that those who do not have authorization to work will not get benefits under a totalization agreement.

"To get Social Security benefits, you do have to be legally in the United States. This agreement does not address in any way immigration, immigration laws or override current law," he said, adding that a 2004 law, the Social Security Protection Act, prevents illegal aliens from getting benefits.

But the seniors group said the 2004 law also states that if those aliens later get legal status -- through an amnesty or some sort of legalization plan such as the one President Bush and the Senate tried to enact last year -- they would be able to collect the benefits based on their time as illegal workers.

The deal has not taken effect because Mr. Bush has not signed it or submitted it to Congress. Once he does, Congress would have 60 days to vote against it or it automatically would become law.

Congress has never defeated any of the 21 other totalization agreements the United States has reached. Most of those have been with European nations, with the financial effects known to be smaller.

Some lawmakers say Mr. Bush has not submitted the agreement because it would get caught up in the debate over Social Security's poor fiscal health, which could doom the measure.

Totalization agreements end double taxation, so workers have to pay only into one country's system, and allow a worker who didn't have enough credits in any one country to qualify for benefits to pool his or her credits. In the United States, it takes 10 years, or 40 quarters, to qualify.

Mr. Lassiter said that's not to say Mexican workers who spent less time, such as the six quarters minimum needed to pool credits, would get benefits equal to someone who had worked his or her full life here.

As for the document's status, he said the Social Security Administration hasn't submitted it to the State Department because officials are still waiting for the Mexican government to help reach a side agreement on how to treat illegal aliens. The United States sent a diplomatic note trying to clarify the situation but has not heard back from the Mexican government, he said.

"At this point, there's no action that is planned or that will be taken until that process goes through," Mr. Lassiter said.

Rafael Laveaga, a spokesman for the Mexican Embassy in Washington, said the agreement has to be ratified by the Mexican Congress as well, but beyond that he had no details to offer.

The issue has been contentious for several years.

A 2003 report by the General Accounting Office, Congress' investigative branch, said the agreement with Mexico was shoddy work that didn't investigate the reliability of Mexico's data, or take into account the millions of illegal aliens who would become eligible.

The GAO also disputed the Social Security Administration's estimate that the agreement would cost $105 million a year for the first five years, saying the costs could be much higher given the uncertainty of who could benefit.

I believe the bottom line here is... They are already here. We do not have the resorces, money, or the public backing to remove them. So, if they are here, the only realistic measures that can be taken are to make them finacially responsible. (Taxes) This is the only way to do this. At this point WHY would an illegal alien want to be a citizen? They have the best possible situation. No taxes, no acountability for most of there actions, and they still get all the benefits, and more in most cases. When they apply for assistance here, the DHS or whomever is not allowed to ask about where they come from and it is illegal to turn them in. (Confidentiality laws) MINDBOGLING!!!!!!!!!!! Our laws are already set up to help the situation grow bigger. We might as well have them paying taxes. At this point we truely don't have any idea how many are here let alone have any way to even make a dent in the problem. So, SSN is the only answer. The amnisty has to be given in order to get the rest. It is Total BS but it may be the only option. :madash:wtf

I don't buy the argument that we don't have the resources to remove them from this country. If we can send 125,000+ troops to Iraq, we sure as hell can patrol our borders, especially the southern border. Either way, we don't need to spend a dime on deportation, just workplace enforcement. If we make it stinky for them to get a job and cut off the gravy train in benefits, they'll go home on their own dime. Most of these people should be revolting in their own countries for better conditions, but it's much easier to just come here since our government welcomes them with open arms.

Aside from the negative economic impact of illegals, a bigger issue is our American identity, that is what makes this wave of immigration different from the one of the turn of the 20th century. Immigrants, traditionally from Europe, settled here and assimilated. I'm not saying that they didn't retain some of their culture, but they learned English and became Americans. The immigrants of today are coming here and not assimilating and not learning English. Why would they, they have everything fed to them on of a platter in their own language. Most of these people could care less about becoming Americans or learning the language, they're just here b/c it's much better than where they came from. Furthermore, radical hispanic leaders feel that the Southwest should be Mexico. They have no respect for this country, break the law by coming here, then have the nerve to march in our streets demanding rights. This is anarchy in it's purest form.

We're starting to resemble the Roman empire, they became weak in body and mind and let all kinds of immigrants in, and pretty soon, the immigrants took over. That is what is going to happen here if we don't get control of our government again. Our elected officials have betrayed each and everyone of us. I just don't know what's it going to take for people to wake up....
