Just because they start on defense shouldn't automatically qualify them to be a Blackshirt. The way the defense played last year....there were NO Blackshirts on the roster in my mind. admo Posted January 20, 2008 Share Posted January 20, 2008 Changing up the uniforms happens when a team is trying to re-identify themselves. You see it more often at schools that havent been on the map traditionally. We do qualify in some ways about trying to re-identify and re-establish the program, but more importantly, return to the spotlight on a grand scale. Huskers already have an identity with the uniforms. Just as OU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas, USC, etc., do. Teams that have been successful before that do mess around a little bit with different uniforms are Miami, Fla., Notre Dame, Florida State, Oregon, and a few others. I like that we keep it Red and White. Plain. Old School. Tradition. Simple. Our identity. I wouldnt mess with the uniforms or the helmet, ever. Just my thoughts on it. Quote Link to comment

There is never a reason to change our color. Never a reason to show up like Oregon or Miami. True tradition like Michigan and Penn State, Alabama, Texas. We are not new kids on the block that need to try gimmicks to succeed. If we have to motivate the players and the fans with other than The N on the heltmet and our Red jersesy, we have a lot more problems as a fan base than most thought. NEVER EVER FOR ANY REASON. huskerguy Posted January 20, 2008 Share Posted January 20, 2008 i would like to see us go back to the '01 and earlier uniforms though... with Nebraska above the number and just white/red pants with no stripes, but it's not too big of a deal... at least we no longer have those uniforms from 2003.
