zoogs
ESPN evaluation Woah...this was out of the blue. Grade: 79 Byrd is an impressive cornerback prospect on film and may possesses some of the better upside in this defensive back class. Very long, rangy body and actually looks a lot taller than his listed measurable on film...Very smooth DB, despite his elongated lower-body and tendency to play high. ...transitions very quickly breaking/exploding on underneath routes...Adjusts to ball well when it's in the air and is just a savvy corner. Understands the concept of zone defenses... Difficult to throw the jump ball on with his height, long wingspan, good leaping and ball skills...Displays the foot-quickness and hips to tightly mirror a WR's stem in off or catch-man technique... However, he is better playing the ball in front of him than opening to turn and run on vertical routes. Has good speed not great... Stiffness and elongated lower-body can hinder transitional quickness and stop-start skill when trying to shadow receivers in and out of their breaks... Shows some aggressiveness and is feisty supporting the run but lacks the strength and power right now to set the edge, tackle strongly and press bigger receivers... Body still has much physical developing to do and is a kid who should only get better with the added size and strength he will get in a fulltime college weight-training program.Exciting prospect. Husker_x
Rivals said he had 21 offers, including Colorado, Wisconsin, Mich State, South Florida, etc. Good pickup for Pelini. We've been needing some defensive guys. A few stats: Height: 5'10" Weight: 170 Forty time: 4.5 Quote Link to comment
zoogs
Rivals article says he had twenty-one offers. http://nebraska.rivals.com/viewprospect.as...798&sport=1 Maybe I get too excited about the ESPN eval's, but I think of them as a pretty reliable source. When they give him a 79, that sounds to me like a solid, solid prospect. Quote Link to comment

Kid is supposed to be tailor-made for Bo and Marv, aggressive as hell. Quote Link to comment
chamrocck
Nice pick-up. Welcome, DeAndre! IMO we need some CB's so great to see a solid recruit here. Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
although he's only a 3*, with a list of offers like that he definatly is catching coaches eyes which is much more important than some analysts... Also good to get some of that FL speed back in the program. Hopefully he's as good as the last CB we got from FL Quote Link to comment
zoogs
Who was that, huskerguy? (edit) Supposedly this was all Bo. And he made up his mind without even holding an offer. Quote Link to comment
