SIGNED S/LB Harvey Jackson

Recommended Posts

signingday2010.png

Name: Harvey Jackson

Position: Linebacker / Safety

High School: Missouri City Hightower (TX)

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 180 lbs

Offers: Nebraska, Houston, Duke

Rivals profile

Odds of becoming Husker: 40 % - we are in on this kid early, so that should give us an advantage. It is hard to tell the type of player this guy is due to a lack of information on rivals.com and scout.com

We also offered his teammate, Shaun Lewis

maybe he is what Bo is looking for? smaller LBs like Demorrio williams?

I don't remember D.W. being that small in weight, but I can't remember what I ate for breakfast either ;)

I'm hoping this guy doesn't get any more offers and will end up helping with Shaun Lewis. I can't help but to think of getting Corey Nelson, Shaun Lewis and Harvey Jackson in this class, even though Jackson is listed as a safety.

Rivals lists him at 6' 2" 185lbs. Maybe he has a big frame and could carry another 40lbs, otherwise I'd say he's a safety-prospect.

Getting in on him early should help.

From Husker Journal:

SEPTEMBER 3 2009. MESSAGE BOARDS

HARVEY JACKSON, SAF, 6-2, 180, 4.5, MISSOURI CITY (HIGHTOWER), TEXAS

Future Husker

"They (Nebraska) are top right now. I'm visiting Nebraska this weekend. If I like them I will probably just commit." Jackson said

"Nebraska was by first offer. I've been liking Nebraska since I was little and started to find out more about them. I liked how they did the option." Jackson said

"They (Nebraska) have a good defensive coordinator and they run a front over there like our high school. I also like the tradition and the facilities are nice." Jackson said

He's just a shade away from being a 4* on Rivals.

I'm curious as to what makes you say that. He is a 5.6 3* by rivals so he wouldn't even be the highest ranked three star. Have you heard something about him getting bumped up?

Today on 1620 Munson said he was an extremely hard worker, getting in early for Fall Camp and staying late. Just the kind of guy Bo is looking for. Come on in, Harvey, the water's fine.

Edit: He also already declared him as the sleeper of the class.

No inside info, but a 4 * on Rivals begins at 5.8. He's currently sitting at 5.6. If he has a good season he ought to get the fourth star.

This is great to get a commit after the first game. I am hoping they get more kids in....especially for the 300th sellout. The atmosphere is guaranteed to be electric!!!

Welcome to the Big Red Harvey!

In his build and everything I see a Larry Asante in him. From some of the rivals articles on him and what I have read I am very excited about him.

I can see him moving into a LB position after a year in the weight program. Especially if we get Cooper since we will have Osborne, Smith, Washington and Cooper already back there.

Athletes Athletes Athletes. You bring in guys like Jackson and maybe Cooper and it can never hurt your football team. Cooper and Jackson could quite possibly play either LB or Safety.
