u do realize I posted an ESPN link that says the exact same thing?

But that would have required me to actually click on a link. ;)

To be honest, I have not visited the ESPN player pages lately because they don't have their evaluations done yet which was really why they started getting included. (And after the site re-design the dynamic ads kill my Firefox.)

Arizona offered:

Compton (Calif.) running back James McConico was offered by the Cats Tuesday, his 7th offer to date. McConico is a tremendous home run threat and averaged a mind boggling 19 yards per carry as a junior.

Oregon, Colorado, San Jose State, Arizona State, Nebraska and Washington all previously offered. In addition, USC is showing heavy interest and McConico attended the Trojans Junior Day a few weeks back.

Meh. Stupid Oregon.

Oregon making good early impressions

Oregon already has a commitment from one of the top players in the West in athlete Curtis White (Eugene, Ore./ Sheldon) and is leading for a couple of the region's top prospects.

The Ducks are also doing well with Compton (Calif.) running back James McConico. The Ducks were one of the first to offer the athlete and are sitting at the top of his board at this time.

McConico is a true home run hitter and averaged 19 yards a carry last season. He earned 2nd team all-state underclass honors and is a national recruit with schools from all over talking with him.

"My offers are from Oregon, Colorado, San Jose State, Arizona State, Nebraska, Washington and Arizona," McConico said. "Oregon is my top school and I plan to camp with them in the summer.

"I'm also high on Colorado and will definitely visit there. USC is high on my list and the school I grew up rooting for. ASU and UCLA are the others in my top five.

"I want to camp with Oregon, USC and UCLA and will also be attending the Nike Camp in April. I'm looking for a good program that has a chance to win and a place where I'm comfortable with the coaching staff."

That doesn't sound very promising. It's still very early but it sounds like he'll be staying in the Pac10.

Grrrrrr. Getting tired of hearing about Washington.

as opposed to "favors USC" "favors Notre Dame" and "favors Oregon?"

But I'm used to seeing those other schools named. Now we have Stanford and Wash to annoy us too. Plus I just think Sarkisian is overrated.

heavy interest in Oregon according to Scout and ESPN...won't decide until Signing Day...grew up a huge fan of Wisconsin and hoping for an offer

Wisconsin hasn't taken a decent Rb in this class and this guy fits their mold. I see him going that way if he's making comments like this. They always replenish their stable, and feature the running back more than pretty much any team on the planet year in year out. I can see someone like this being the rotation with Montee Ball in the future.

I was just looking over his profile on scout and I really think we stand a very good shot at landing this kid, unless he just does not want to leave the west coast. The main players are ucla, oregon washington, and arizona state. All three of those schools have at least two running backs committed for this class already. the other big school if you would like to call them that is Colorado and we all know whats going on with their coach and program. Outside of those schools the only school listed is San Jose State, which pertains to my first comment about him wanting to stay on the west coast.

Unfortunately, I do not know that no news is good news here. We haven't heard anything about McConico in a really long time. Thee last story on Rivals was in August, and the last story on Scout was in July.

I, too, am really high on McConico. He ran at a 20 ypc clip his junior season. I felt if we could make a serious run at a runningback this year, it should be him. Of course, we took a shot at Gio Bernard and struck out. He has said he is solid in his commitment to Notre Dumb. We shall see. Unfortunately, I think even though they have two RB commits, if the Nike Univ... eh, Oregon... scholly is still on the table, he'll probably end up there.
