DeathCultArmaggedon
Player: Evan Washington Hometown: DeSoto, TX Position: OT Height: 6'5" Weight: 290 lbs. 40 time: N/A Visit Date: TBD Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Kansas State, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech Favorites: TBD Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Scout: ESPN Grade: 77 Assessing the talent: Son of NFL player Marvin Washington. "Washington looks like what you see on Saturday afternoon already at the offensive tackle position. He has great height and overall size. Possesses very good natural strength and often overpowers his opponent; dwarfs smaller defensive linemen. Big powerful lower body helps get movement off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes leads with the chest instead of the hands in run game resulting in not near the domination he is capable of creating. Plays too high when run blocking and must become a much better knee bender. Very good straight ahead base blocker but needs to play lower in order to control the line of scrimmage every play. Shows the foot quickness to reach and zone block but lacks some overall foot agility. Slips to level two linebackers but needs to be a better finisher in space; also true when pulling and trapping. Has to concentrate on staying square on combo and double team blocking; tends to get angular. Pass protection is hot and cold. Huge wing span is a plus and does a much better job of leading with the hands in the pass game. Often locks into the frame of the pass rusher completely stalemating the defender's charge. Other times jumps the rusher too soon on dropback instead of kicking back and anchoring down. Needs to show patience on drop back in order to not give the edge to a speed rusher. Washington has the ability to be an outstanding pass protector at the next level but he must gain flexibility in the lower body and use his hands more consistently especially in the run game. " - from ESPN Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 10%. Doesn't know much about us, but we were his first offer. Goes to the same school as current 2010 prospects WR Darius Terrell (committed to Texas) and CB Adrian White (NU not in his top 5). Quote Link to comment
