SIGNED DT Todd Peat

Recommended Posts

We need a D-line that can make a push and not just get pushed around. Where are the ends? I can not think of how many time Allen pinched down and the QB went to the outside (containment). I like Cam but I am not impressed. I want to see David Ankrod(sp). The only play I think he was in he had pressure on the QB. Pressure from the outside is the key.

Cam has played very well the past few games... and most of the season.

Well if we somehow got all three of those dudes N, which is somewhat of a pipe dream (COULD STILL HAPPEN :) ), we'd have the best DT recruiting class in the nation bar none. At least as far as stars and potential goes. We all know stars don't equal success, but I'm sure we'd all take two 4 stars and a VASTLY underrated 3 star for Bo to work on the next 4-5 years. Williams will definitely move up in ranking on both sites, but I'm unsure he'll get a 4th star, since he's currently ranked in the bottom half of the 30's for DT in the nation.

Anyway, case in point, pulling out all three = huge recruiting win. Then we just have to get our butts in gear at DE.

Other than Koa-Ka'ai, I don't think we stand very well with any other DE. I think the DE's will come next year, solid year for DE's next year in the heart of where we recruit heavy.

Not to be a Debbie downer, but this kid wants to play early... Carl Pelini was just quoted as saying he is excited about the young depth they have on the defensive line at Nebraska and that "Chase Rome was ready to play this year but we just have too much talent and depth to justify burning his redshirt." I think this kid will be impressed by our atmosphere, facilities, academics, etc. but I think he will see the amount of talent we have and shy away.

It looks to me like he is a definite Stanford lean. He's going to visit us and Bama because he loves our defenses and wants to experience a Big time program, but when it all comes down to where he goes I think it's Stanford. He says they have the whole package... great weather, great academics, a good football team on the rise, great relationships with the coaches, one of the top recruiting classes, and they've promised him he can play early there... etc.

Most every school will tell any recruit they are dying to sign this. In reality most discover very quickly that this isn't high school anymore and come to the realization themselves that sitting out a year is probably in their best interest.

That being said is great hearing recruit after recruit say Bo tells them how it is. They'll have a chance if they earn it, and it won't be given to them.

Bryant Dubose is High on us right now... he has just as much interest as Lake does.

I honestly did forget about him. But I don't think he will make it to who ever commits to because of grades. Does anyone know what he got on his ACT anyways?

Talk about it in Red Sea Scrolls

Todd Peat Jr. has family in the military so getting an invitation to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl is special not only because he'll get to play against many of the nation's top players but he'll get to thank lots of heroes during the week.

Peat is taking his first official to ASU this weekend.

It's something the Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol defensive tackle is looking forward to most.

"It's a huge honor to be selected as one of the top players in the country and it's great that we could do something for the Army," Peat said. "Those people sacrifice so much for our country every day and do it for us just out of their patriotism. It's awesome we could do something for them.

"I have a lot of family in the Army. My uncle is a vet and I have two cousins who are serving right now. I just think it's awesome to be able to go down there and interact with those guys, have fun with them and then be able to play a football game."

Peat, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound four-star prospect, is really excited for the week in San Antonio. He wants to test himself against the best offensive linemen, go head-to-head with many of them and see exactly where he stands.

In high school, teams usually double team Peat or simply run away from him so sometimes his impact is limited. At the Army game, there are all-stars all over the field so it's going to give Peat a sense of what college football will be like.

"I'm really looking forward to it, just playing against the best guys and really getting a taste for what it's going to be like in college," Peat said.

"I'm looking to play against those guys because they don't have to double team you, they don't have to run away from you so it will be a great opportunity to see where I'm at."

Peat's college future is still being determined. This weekend he's on his first official visit to Arizona State and it could be an important trip. The Sun Devils were the first to offer and have been recruiting him for years. Since it's the hometown team, Arizona State has to be considered a contender for his commitment.

"That was my first offer and it's a school I really like," Peat said. "I grew up a Sun Devil fan and all my family members are ASU people. I have built a great relationship with the coaching staff there over the past four years and I'm looking forward to going down and having a great weekend with those people."

Thanksgiving weekend Peat will take an official visit to Nebraska and he has a trip scheduled to Oregon State when the Beavers host Oregon.

He has already taken three unofficial visits to Stanford, another of his favorites, but said he's uncertain if he'll take an official trip there. Peat said he plans to announce his commitment at the Army game.

"They're one of the top schools," Peat said of Nebraska. "I think I have a great opportunity at Nebraska. It's a great football program. When you talk about the great football programs around the country you talk about Nebraska, Ohio State, USC, Alabama.

"(Oregon State) has always been a school I really liked. There were a couple guys from my school that went to Oregon State. Their coaching staff is filled with just great people and they run a great program. I feel like they are some of the most upstanding guys around, the coaches at Oregon State."

I don't know about this guy. If you watch his video highlights at about 1:10-12 into it ... he tackles the QB and kinda headbutts him or uses his head and hands towards the QB's head. He will probably get suspended for to many games should we land him.

Oh wait ... we will be in the Big Te :bigredn: ! I'll still wait with hope.

Seems to be a ASU/Nebraska/Stanford battle for Todd.

Based off football alone, we win this battle everytime. However, ASU has home field advantage and Stanford holds academics over us as well as a promising future football program. Should be a close fight...hope we can squeak it out!
