His star rating seems low for his offer list. Not that stars matter but still......... :moreinteresting

NOTE: This is not intended to begin a "stars" discussion, just an observation...

I like how everyone bashes Rivals for placing so much emphasis on the offer list, yet this is one of a thousand posts on Huskerboard where we do it :) (the difference is we only use it to justify increasing the stars or our targets/commits so then it's ok)

Precisely, if you are going to rank recruits based off of mostly offer list, then why not rank this kid on offer list.

He has a lot of offers, but not the ones that most often gain you the 4th star. Maybe he should be a 5.7 3-star, but Duke, Cincinnati, CU, CSU, Kansas, Iowa St...those aren't offers that really matter when talking about that 4th star. Michigan, Nebraska, and Auburn are his 3 legitimate offers, and you could argue w/ Rich Rod up there in Ann Arbor that offer is trash, and Nebraska pretty well offers everyone. The top players in FL almost always have offers from Miami, St. and Florida. He is missing 2 of the 3. He could overcome that with others, but there's no offer from USC, LSU, Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, Notre Dame...etc, etc.

We do offer a lot of kids, but an offer is just a step in the process to further gauge interest. Lewis is said to be our top target at LB. When I heard that I trust that our staff is going after a good one. They are confident that they can get him as well. I am confident that we can pull him N as well.

not sure who bashes them for it. it's just a fact that certain offers carry increased prestige (and thus higher rankings). in fact, i'd say it's about the only good way for them to rank kids, as i sure wouldn't put much faith in their ability to break down tape and predict future success off of it.

So we are looking to take 2 LB's now?

I'd could see his offer-list with a 5.8 4*. My guess if I looked at his offers alone would be 5.7 3*, which is a hair above where they him rated. RR has struggled at Mich but the name still has cache and while they aren't as picky as tOSU they aren't just throwing offers around. To say Neb offers everyone is just incorrect. They have become more picky and you have to remember that just because a kid claims an offer doesn't mean we'd actually take him.
