kind of short for a TE, and a little slow for that slot position.

watch his film and tell me he's slow. also, i think kyler reed is about the same size (probably slimmer coming in, actually) and he appears to be coming along just fine as a TE.

that said, i don't have a lot of hope for pulling this kid away from the top SEC teams. hopefully he notices our lack of young TE prospects and how much watson likes to play 2 and even 3 of them at a time.

I don't doubt his abilities (well maybe i do a little)...just a snap judgement based on the measurables is all. I was going off the 40 time reported - 4.9...that is right around what Suh ran at the combine and I never really saw Suh as able to play TE. I think a couple dozen defensive linemen ran in the 4.6-4.8 range. (It's not hard to speed up a tape 5-10%, I don't put to much stock in that)...and Kyler Reed runs a 4.5 40 - that's quick enough to make up for a little size. Short and slow doesn't usually equate to quality production from a TE though.

you go ahead and worry about that listed 40 time, i'll put more stock in what he put on film playing receiver in florida 5A ball and the all-star offer sheet he has.

btw, i was referring to kyler's ability to be an effective blocker at TE despite his size. there are very few collegiate TE's that share his speed.

Which has translated into exactly one catch for 4 yds so far this year.

I for one hope the receiving numbers increase dramatically at the TE position, because one catch a piece is not going to cut it. Even for being only three games into the season those numbers are hideous.

Keep in mind that we've only thrown around 15 passes a game so far. I expect the TEs to be featured more heavily when we face a defense that actually makes us throw the ball.

Great point! TEs will be needed when we actually have to throw and not rush for 400 ypg!

I wonder what AC thought of our dominance this weekend...

Probably thinking "wow, Florida, or this.... :hmmph<_< "

Taken From the Omaha World Herald:

The first official visits of the season brought to Lincoln two prospects already committed to other schools.

Four-star tight end A.C. Leonard, a Florida pledge, and Rice commit Givens Price were on hand to see Nebraska take on South Dakota State.

They got the grand tour, heading into the Husker locker room with NU commits Daniel Davie, Zach Sterup and Ryne Reeves just before the Tunnel Walk.

If the reaction of Price's mother was any indication, consider the trip an eye-opener. Following the introduction of starting lineups on the stadium video boards, she turned to those around her and said, “That's awesome.”

Leonard and Price hold offers from Nebraska. Leonard, who has been committed to Florida for nearly a year now, is planning an official visit to defending national champion Alabama next weekend. He also holds offers from Louisville, Miami and Tennessee.

Woke up in the morning to a 50 degree low temp and said 'ta hell w/ this'

Better this game than a game in November then, otherwise he woulda frozen his @$$ off.

Rated the visit an 8.5

Said he is actually looking around and will take a "serious" look at Nebraska.

One of his high school coaches has ties.

-----------------

Positive but he's still long shot IMO

"8.5"... ouch... between the team's performance and the fans in the stands being quiet, I'm not surprised though

with such a bad rating I dont expect him to commit unless we go undefeated and his remaining trips are as bad this one

Well this guy is pretty damn slow but a 4.9 makes Mike mcneils 6.8 forty time look blazing fast! LMAO

This might be one of the first guys to ever not use the political way out and just give it a 10.

I really can't see AC leaving the south whether it in the ACC or the SEC. I'd love for him to pull the trigger though.

For the 4.9 haters, watch the film. As for a couple of positives, remember Chase Rome gave his visit an 8.5 once upon a time ago. AND a TE actually CAUGHT a pass this game. And Kyler could have scored another if Taylor hadn't been zoning in on Kinnie in triple coverage. Kyler was running down our sideline all by himself.

yikes..... 8.5 doesnt sound like committ material... i have no real problem with the 4.9 as much as others....... but i dont really know if he will come here..... disregard what i said earlier

he's been at 3 high schools in the last few months because of academic reasons - he's trying to get somewhere that would allow him to play football in college. could be a Heard situation...or worse. wouldn't surprise me if he's looking around because FL has cooled on him for this reason.

I think Chase Rome gave us something like a 7 and he ended up committing.

I think everyone should have known and expected AC to be an uphill battle regardless. He could have had a fantastic visit, and I really would see us still be trailing quite a few teams.

Decommitted from Florida last night, and is no longer considering Florida.

Article

Love his answer to the question if he was still committed to the Florida. Classic. :LOLtartar

Bama looks like the favorite but I wouldn't be shocked if he stays in Florida at THUG U

Wow now that I think about it that would be Florida more than Miami, so I better just call them by their gay favorite the u

this kid is a mid-season transfer waiting to happen - why bother wasting the scholly.

Throw that on top of being JUCO bound more likely than not.

Ed Aschoff's twitter:

#Gators TE commit AC Leonard making news yet again with his suspension. Ineligible for the season after taking a swing at another player

Two infractions this year by AC Leonard. University Christian was sent a letter stating Leonard would be ineligible for a 2nd offense ...

I doubt this will have any recruiting ramifications, but AC Leonard enters #UF with baggage, but I doubt most will remember in January

This has got to have Urban beaming. Not only does he get it for his team racking up 30+ arrests, but now bringing in a kid with a questionable character issues. Stay strong Urban you may be the new Thug U, and Randy Shannon is getting upset about it.

NO WAY. This kid is a bomb waiting to explode. The character issues, academic questions, and shady commitment to a team(quit and then dogged UF and then crawled back as if all was well), that's three strinkes. Besides a beautiful September night game against SDSU was too cold for the guy.

Yeah, agree, if this is on the mark.

I agree w/ you, there's a lot of risk here. But a ton of potential upside as well. I don't see it happening, but I would be upset if it did.

...we'd all praise his dominance if he commited, you know it :). Character issues are nothing new...see our QB. Commitment to a team is nothing new...se our QB. Academic questions are nothing new...see Heard. We can afford to stick our neck out once or twice a recruiting cycle.

This character issues stems more from taking swings at other players. This screams hotheat. Commitment is more about dogging Florida when he decommitted PUBLICLY. Taylor hasn't came out spouting his issues with the team to the media like AC did.
