Axl_sued_me
I heard this. If we make it to the Big XII championship and win, we play the Big East champs. But if we lose, we go to a non-BCS bowl but more than likely, against a more respected team like a 2nd or 3rd place SEC team. Not that I'm going to cheer for Nebraska to not win the Big XII, but I think we earn more respect from playing and beating a 2nd or 3rd place SEC team than beating a Big East champ. HuskerNLimbo
Agreed. But I'd like to leave the big xii with the trophy, letting Beebe know that the best team in your conference just left. However, It'd earn us more respect to play and win against a 2 or 3 ranked SEC team in the Cotton Bowl. Quote Link to comment
junior4949
I don't know. I believe I could find great joy in watching us pound Pud's school something to the tune of 80-0 in a BCS Bowl. Quote Link to comment
CornHOLIO
Respect is over-rated. But I'd respect us more with a B-12 trophy. 1 Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
I think we earn more respect winning the Big 12. Everyone knows we can't help who we get in a bowl. Any respect we got from playing a tougher team in the Cotton Bowl would have only partly restored losing the Big 12 championship. Playing Pitt may not get us any more, but it won't hurt us either. billdozer15
5 years down the road no one will remember who we played in the bowl anyway. So i would rather have a BCS bowl victory than a maybe Cotton Bowl victory. Quote Link to comment
kc_husker
Hmmm let me see cotton bowl or fiesta bowl? Quote Link to comment
aholla3
BCS Game Win> Any non-BCS win. We win out, win a BCS game, we'll finish top 3-4 in the country and start next season in the top 5. We lose the Big 12 Championship game, win a bowl game against an Arkansas or Alabama, we'll finish in the top 10. Quote Link to comment
74Hunter
Agreed with all but the OP. It is much more important to win the CCG and get to the BCS, then we worry about matchups. The thought of facing a "better team" in a lesser bowl is ridiculous. Quote Link to comment
Axl_sued_me
What is a BCS bowl that's not for the National Championship bowl anyway?? What because it has more corporate sponsorship? Again, I'm not hoping for us to not win the Big XII championship. But I see us with very good opportunities either way. Beating an Auburn, LSU, Alabama, or South Carolina will be more gratifying than a win against Pitt. Quote Link to comment
GM_Tood
Plus the $17MM vs $3MM total payouts between Fiesta and Cotton is another reason to want BCS bowl regardless of opponent. Win the CCG and destroy Pitt is what I am looking forward to seeing. Quote Link to comment
ESPY
"You play to win the game." "Losing is not an option." Oh and along with these famous quotes, you might as well throw in "Any BCS Bowl is better and more respected than a non-BCS Bowl." Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
The Cotton Bowl is probably buried with 3 other games going on at the same time, while the Fiesta Bowl will be prime time all alone. And what if it's vs. Auburn without Newton? What does that mean? Quote Link to comment
huskerscott
I think its a bunch of crap that some people on here thank that we should lose the Big 12 champ game just to try and get a better bowl matchup. Im very dissapointed that such Nebraska fans would even come close to thinking that. At Nebraska its about championships, BCS bowls, 11 win seasons, not Cotton, Alamo, or Holiday Bowl matchups against a more respected opponent. Lets worry about beating A&M, CU and the Big 12 south representative. Then we can start talking about playing Pitt, Syracuse, West Virginia or whoever we play in the bowl game. The teams goals were to win the Big12 Champ and get to a BCS bowl. 1 Quote Link to comment

I don't think anyone suggested that we should lose the Big 12 Title game, I think the observation was just being made by the OP that if we were to lose, we would most likely get paired with a superior opponent in our bowl. Observation does not = endorsement. Quote Link to comment
