Perlman unhappy with Bo's sideline behavior

It's not a matter of opinion that Bo has some longstanding sideline demeanor issues that need addressed. Are they life threatening? No, not really.

Should Osborne sit down with Bo and have a nice long chat? Yes. Today, if possible. And then after they they should be resuming work on what options there are for ending the careers of the buffoons wearing stripes at yesterday's fiasco of a game.

Oh god. What is wrong with people? Someone in another thread reminded us how it wasn't long ago we got to watch Callahan calmly pace the sidelines while we were down 30-10 to some completely average team. Now we have some really questionable things going on with officials and it cost us a big game. And Bo passionately wants to win these big games and isn't going hold back his emotion too much.

The fact that this is bothersome to Perlman while the refs situation apparently is not... well, that should be bothersome to us.

Thank you!!!!!!

Exactly what I was going to say bro.

It was not so long ago we had a coach who, on top of being a terrible head football coach, never showed an ounce of passion or fire about his team. It was as if he didn't really care about the outcome of the game. The one bit of excitement he ever did show was a bit of a dumb*$$ move anyway, "Throat slashgate."

I'll take Bo, rants and all, over that anyday.

It's not an either or here, Bo can still show passion without being essentially a huge jerk. You can argue and disagree with calls, but you need to find a happy medium.

both Tom O and Pearlman should come out and say it was over the top but also should say they completely understand that NU is being hosed by the Big 12.

I wonder if Perlman has the cuhonnies to investigate

what's up with the conference officiating of Husker games.

You know, a look at the data by NU's statistics department?

Any supervisor worth a damn would first find out what prompted the bad

behavior and whether there was any justification for it.

Then decide the appropriate punishment.

Anyone? Anyone?

Perlman should have declined comment and handled the matter internally with Bo. A little ridiculous that the Chancellor is essentially throwing him under the bus in the press.

Disagree, if he declines comment he might as well of said I agree with what Bo said. Harvey needed to say, we are Nebraska, we do not condone that type of behavior and will correct it. His job is to protect the image of the University, even if it means knocking Pelini down a notch or two.

Bo was on tilt last night, but I think that it could have been handled better by Perlman. Who knows, maybe his comments were taken out of context. I don't think Pelini's actions should be condoned, but his reactions to what was happening were slightly calmer than those of my tablemates. Bo is going to have to learn how to control himself better for sure, I am just not a proponent of publicly attempting to save face by calling out one of your employees.

That's fair. You have a good point. But, the way I am, I'm not going to ask Bo to change anything about his personality just b/c he's now our head coach. Obviously, I don't want him racking up 15 yarders like he did when he first got here, but I will let Bo be Bo. He may mellow with time, he may not. I'll take him either way.

The only thing I care about is this:

Bo Pelini > Bill Callahan

I think it was an attempt to save pentalties from the Big 12.

Stating we know we have a problem and that it is being addressed in house, may keep Bo from more problems. I am just guessing on this.

My guess is we will hear more about it tomorrow.

Do you REALLY think anything we do or don't do will

keep Beebe from teeing off on us every chance he gets?

Maybe a better question is does Perlman believe that?

Throwing Bo under the bus to kowtow to Beebe, now

THAT is demeaning to the University.

It's always about balance. Bo is on the absolute extreme end of the spectrum and that is simply not acceptable. The people saying this, myself included, are not saying he should go across to the other extreme end, ala Tom Osborne, but that he should keep his identity while also keeping himself in check, last night Bo failed to be a respectful human being. Whether or not it was justified or the refs deserved it does not matter, Bo controls himself, and always has to, despite the circumstances.

What bs, Bo saw Nebraska was getting $crewed and wasn't going to stand idly by it. Maybe he went too far, but I don't have a problem with Bo getting upset there

Upset is one thing, dropping F bombs every 4 words, chasing after officials during and after the game, verbally dressing down players and other coaches on the field is taking it too far. The only thing that hurts Bo is his ego and attitude, good to see Harvey pointing out that Bo needs to check them both.

Maybe you could lend him one of your pink party dresses to pace the sidelines in ... or some pretty panties to twist in. :nutz

I agree, but Bo really put him in a tough spot. I think he just chose not to wait until after it had been handled to say it, to diffuse some of the flames.

It was a poor reflection on the university and there needed to be an apology, however superficial, about it.

Agree with this too, but not so much penalties, just a PR battle.

I love Bo just as much as the next Husker fan, but this is not an isolated incident. Bo's sideline demeanor has been questionable since he's been our head coach. I have no problem with Perlman calling him out and reminding him that he represents The University of Nebraska, regardless of the officiating.
