For those of us new to the site... what is "derp"?

That's a way to call someone stupid without violating the terms of use of this and most other websites.

No, it's not. Again, use the links provided, but that assumes you can read and process information that doesn't come from a Fox News-sanctioned website.

And you have no idea how to understand that the liberal media reporters are a bunch of hacks any more. They are not tinterested in vetting BO or any liberal because they have like ideas. So if you want to read and listen to that drivel you are less informed then someone watching Fox news. Read the big newspapers and tell me there isn't a liberal slant (NY, Chicage, LA newspapers). :thumbs

There was a time when you and I would disagree with a lefty and he'd accuse us of using Fox News "talking points," and then the discussion would escalate to the point where we'd be suspended (I was given "vaca" for life for being a smart*ss). Now they just trot out the old accusations of being too right wing for rational discussion. They never give counter arguments - other than to accuse you of bad grammar or not posting a link. Disagreeing with the NY Times is a capital offense in the leftists' eyes. Here's a good example of media bias.

Here is the attack ad on EW. Classic :)

Here is what they are talking about in regards to her support for OWS.

JACOBS: I’m curious: Is there something that is keeping you away from this movement? Is there a reason why you haven’t embraced it?
WARREN:
Look, everybody has to follow the law. That’s the starting point.
I’ve been fighting this fight for years and years now. As I see it, this is about two central points: one, this is about the lack of accountability. That Wall Street has not been held accountable for how they broke the economy. The second is a values question, a fundamental fairness around the way that markets have been distorted and families have been hurt. I’m still fighting that fight. I’m just fighting it from this angle. I’m fighting it from … I want to fight it from the floor of the United States Senate. I think that is a place to make this difference.
JACOBS: Is showing solidarity with them going to get in the way of that?
WARREN: It’s not a question of solidarity. I just don’t think that’s the right way to say it.
I support what they do. I want to say this in a way that doesn’t sound puffy. I created much of the intellectual foundation for what they do. That’s the right thing. There has to be multiple ways for people to get involved and take back our country.
The fight that I’m fighting now is one that is directed towards the United State Senate. That’s just how I see it.

I would vote for Warren if I could.

You can donate to her campaign. I did. :)

Thank you!

I have donated to Dennis Kucinich and Alan Grayson this year, and also sent money to Russ Feingold. Like yo, I plan on donating to EW and a few others outside my state

I volunteered and donated money to Bernie Sanders in 2006, and to the day off to GOTV. This year neither Sander noR Welch (House) will be challenged, so I'm not sure what my level of committment/effort will be.

As did I :)

And thank you too!

I despise the politics of the Tea Party and what it stands for.

Let me make sure I got this right.

OWS: Endorsed by the KKK, Iran, Neo-Nazis. Paricipitants are guilty of assault, rape (special bonus: women and men), illegal drug use and dealing, violence, rioting, and open anti-Semitism. They try to coerce women into not reporting sexual assaults to the police. They want to destroy capitalism, favor socialism, and they also like to destroy property and defecate on those things they do not like.

Tea Party: Want lower taxes and smaller Government.

And you "despise" the politics of the Tea Party.

And the award for the "Best Regurgitation of a Right-Wing Propaganda Story as Fact" goes to...

Seriously--before your morning constitutional, do you check to make sure that Glenn Beck approves? And how many ignorant, false email chains are you required to forward to everyone in our Outlook contact book daily, lest they kick out out of the Tea Party? 3? 5? 10?

What's pathetic about Tea Party supporters is that they don't realize they're being duped by the largest astroturf movement ever. It's a blatant cash grab by two rich white people that were brainwashed by an abusive father and forcefed Ayn Rand until they believed her prattle was actually valuable social commentary and political policy (neither of which is true, as it was laughed out of the popular discourse during, of all things, a Dwight D. Eisenhower presidency *and* both a Republican and (eventually) Democratic Congress.

I'm Republican, but the current state of affairs disgusts me. The Tea Party, people like Beck, Bachmann, Perry, Cain, Palin--they're all vermin, preying on the ignorance of an aging baby boomer class that realized that they, themselves, helped **** up what was supposed to be the twilight of their years--hence the blatant cash grab and unabashed regurgitation of some of the most inane talking points--with no regard to the future of our Country or the impact their ignorance is causing now (see our crumbling infrastructure, Vermont rebuilding).

The best hope of a Republican win against Obama was McCain, and the derp-filled 'baggers saddled him with the half-wit Palin. No one in the current field has a chance of winning, as the status quo will saddle someone like Romney with a derp-filled idiot like Bachmann, Cain, or Perry, and people will be scared to turn over the keys to the world's biggest military and most significant economy to people that diplomacy is for the weak and that stagnation and unilateral action are always acceptable as long as the end justifies the means.

Pathetic.

For those of us new to the site... what is "derp"?

http://knowyourmeme....rp#.TsFmcFZU1I4

Thanks, I get it now.

For example: The Tea Derps were confused into thinking they were protesting for the common good, but instead were suckered into whoring for the interest of large corporations who wanted to pay even less taxes and do away with pesky regulations.

Good. I would go for the pejorative 'derp 'baggers' so you can get two into one.

Of course, we only use these when you're dealing with people that are simply regurgitating talking points and can't come up with any sort of critical analysis of their own. If someone actually uses common sense, uses sources that don't link to an obviously slanted and biased news source, and that doesn't discuss the whole of politics in absolutes, then you probably should hold off on the term 'derp'.

But considering how the 'Pedia castaways are derping up the board, I would say it's socially appropriate unless a mod tells you otherwise.

Mostly agree but there are a few non-derp 'Pedia castaways who contribute positively. I sure wish that their ship hadn't sunk because the derp seems fairly pervasive.

Funny because we that came on here hadn't used derp or any personal attacks until people who can't use reason start saying things like derp. Or a sarcasitc sentence about our education (A liberal thing I guess, insult someone when they are having a debate). Go back and look where the posts turn negative and Carlfense and few others always seem to somehow make it a point to show they are intelligent. Usually that is a real sign that they are insecure in their abilities, sorry Carl! I would say we all could get along if you just stay to the facts and not to the funny little snide remarks that litter your posts!! :wasted

Good ad that's into response to an attacking ad against her. I'll post the attacking ad if I find it again.

I work in Massachusetts, and both Senators Kennedy and Kerry had/have been known as job creators and had supported education and training.

Scott Brown has been pretty much a no-show on that issue.

If Warren can help create good jobs (the #1 issue), then she will have a long career in the Senate and hopefully in a larger role.

Here in Vermont, Senator Sanders has a phenominal record of supporting local businesses and communities. More states should be blessed with such a socialist.

Well, I didn't have to go far with your derp comment on post #82. If you look at the negative start to this post go back and read and you will find at post #25 it starts. then read post #31 about the tea party turds & tea party repugnants. Then look at post # 62, 65 and your glorious informative post #82. That is just this thread!! chuckleshuffle

Sorry. That doesn't cut it. Show specific statements that are "mak[ing] a point to show they are intelligent."

Example of your argument: Look to post #86 for the derp.
