Recommended Posts

The team fell short in advancing to Super Six but three individuals achieved AA status and will perform in Sunday's event finals in their respective routines.

How can finishing 5th be short of finishing in the top 6 (Super Six)?

:D

I had a feeling this would get asked.

There are 12 teams competing in the tournament. Each team is paired up in two 6-team formats that compete against each other for team points. Nebraska was paired up with UCLA, Utah, Stanford, LSU and Oklahoma and finished 5th in that group. Teams that finish Top 3 from each 6-team bracket advances to the Super Six team finals which goes down Saturday. The individual events competition goes down on Sunday.

Technically, they finished 5th in their 6-team rotation.

So at least we finished in the top 10.

Who were in the other 6?

Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Oregon State, Ohio State were the other 6. Alabama, Florida and Arkansas advanced to Super Six.

The 6 teams that were eliminated scored as follows (highest to lowest):

Oklahoma 196.925

Nebraska 196.625

LSU 196.550

Ohio State 196.525

Georgia 196.50

Oregon State 196.475

Basically Nebraska was in the toughest bracket since the Top 3 of the eliminated teams all came from the same 6-team bracket and scored higher than the 3 eliminated teams from the other bracket. Regardless how the Super Six standings turn out today, we can unofficially say Nebraska finished 8th overall in the 12-team standings.
