Hadden, also a high-level OF prospect, showed well during live hitting against the first five pitchers of the day and took a very strong batting practice, is a very good athlete with present strength, looseness in his body and additional room to fill. He showed easy arm action with a short stride and short arm stroke sitting comfortably 86-88 and topping at 89. The ball comes out of his hand well and shows solid life. Another solid pitch is his late breaking 11/5 curveball at 71-73. A 70-72 mph changeup is a raw third offering that he showed solid arm action on. He maintained velocity from the stretch, sitting 86-88, mixing pitches well. Matt Jones, RHP from Gretna RHP Matt Jones 2/11/2012 11:56:34 AM By far the most imposing arm of the day was RHP Matt Jones (2012, Gretna HS, Omaha, NE) a Nebraska commit with a 6'6, 245 build. The big, strong Jones worked 86-88 with his fastball, topping at 89, also throwing a 11/5 curveball with solid break and some depth at 71-73, and a developing changeup with good arm action at 78-79. Jones worked with easy arm action and good extension out front, repeating his delivery and working the bottom half of the strike zone. His fastball was heavy and hitters did not produce very many good swings against him. Jones is a solid athlete for his size and stayed balanced throughout his delivery. 1 Quote Link to comment
huskerhill
Thanks for doing that Hacker. It is some what dissapointing that none of the recruiting services put that much effort into college baseball. Oh well. According to ESPN, Justin Black is the 81st player in the nation for the 2012 class link. Probably this biggest commitment picked up by DE. Then again, you can't even find the player when you search for him on Rivals so who knows how good he is or any of these players. Maybe where these kids are drafted this summer will be a better indicator as to how good they are... or will be in the future. Quote Link to comment
flatwaterfan
Great Post Hacker. In addition here is what huskers.com had on our earlier signees. http://www.huskers.c...TCLID=205333753 So that's 4 LHP, 5 RHP, 2 C's, 1 INF, 1 3rd base, 2 OF, 1 c/of Quote Link to comment
SkerMin8r
Any chance we could pin this and maybe try to keep it up to date? Quote Link to comment
flatwaterfan
Need to add Moats LHP to the list Nebraska did well in Minnesota this year with 4 players out of the top 25. http://www.mnbaseballhub.com/page/show/515326-top-25-players Quote Link to comment

flatwaterfan
Star Tribune Link to Minnesota HS Baseball Recruiting... Nebraska has 3 verbals (Interesting, read the comments on Max Knutson) http://www.mnbasebal...013-commitments Yah, Knutson sounds like he could pitch or play the OF or maybe be a 2-way player. Fastest baseball player in Minn in the 60 and leads his team in batting average sounds like a really talented kid. We will have to see how it shakes out after the draft..... Quote Link to comment
HuskerHacker
if his skills are equal to Pat Kelly's (another Minnosta HS baller) then I'll be thrilled with the addition. Quote Link to comment

TonyStalloni
It's exciting to see what DE and his coaches can do with a full year of recruiting. The players will be young but they will benefit from starting out in his system. Quote Link to comment
