Hingle McCringleberry
The PSC finally approved more taxi companies to operate in Lincoln, and they will run at a lower rate than servant, and they will bring in more Taxi's for game days. Over all a good day for people who live here (I wont go for a dinner/drinks downtown due to lack of taxi's and over zealous cops), or for people who come visit on game days. This was long overdue http://journalstar.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/commission-approves-omaha-cab-operation-in-lincoln/article_dd5ee1c9-9d73-5c54-bdb7-8b61d8c4701a.html Quote Link to comment
Blackshirts007
Holy hell i never realized how expensive ours were. This is great news, and will put a massive dent on service cab, most likely to the point where they will have to lower their prices. I think more have always been needed, especially during gamedays. Hingle McCringleberry
Never occured to me to take a taxi HAHAHA... It never occurred to me either until I sailed into my late 20's early 30's... I have a friend that lives in Walnut Creek CA (just across the bay from San Fran), when we went out with a bunch of her friends, they all came to the house, had drinks, then called a cab for everyone, we rode into the city, had dinner, partied etc, and didn't have to worry about getting home. If you enjoy getting stink-o, this is the only way to do it. Like I said I haven't been out down town in years (except for football) because I fear getting snagged for turning wide and being .01 over the limit. Quote Link to comment

krc1995
Awesome news. Lincoln is the most expensive taxi service I have used. Pretty sad given the population Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Awesome news. Lincoln is the most expensive taxi service I have used. Pretty sad given the population That's what happens when you have a monopoly. Kind of like our cable rates with TimeWarner. I'd like to see Lincoln open this town up to another company or two. Magically prices would plummet, customer service would improve, etc. TWC is a crock. Quote Link to comment
tschu
Haha @ complaining about Lincoln cops. They're the most lenient police force Ive ever seen Quote Link to comment
Blackshirts007
Haha @ complaining about Lincoln cops. They're the most lenient police force Ive ever seen I can't argue there. I've been pulled over three times and have only gotten one ticket, which was actually an ugly woman sherrif. The best one was when i ran a blatent red. I didn't have my license or insurance on me, i was digging around for it and the cop said "don't worry about it, i'll just look you up." Then he returned with a warning ticket that had 5 checks on it, No proof on insurance, no license, expired tags, visual obstruction, and traffic endangerment. Quote Link to comment

Foppa
I remember one night driving home from my girlfriends' house at about 1AM. Got pulled over after turning onto South street from 33rd and stopped on 40th. Speeding. Didn't come to a complete stop at a stop sign. No seat belt (stupid, I know). No turn signal on lane change. The officer looked like it was his first night on patrol and was more scared than I was at the fine I was looking at. Warning. He said he was just looking out for DUI's and said have a safe night. He who has not sinned cast the first stone...I know. But no matter the taxi prices, if you've got a group to cut down on expenses...just no excuse. If you can afford drinks, dinner, entertainment...it's just another part of the budget for a safe night out. For yourself...and for others. 1 Quote Link to comment
HSKR
Hopefully some on the football team pays attention to this. Quote Link to comment
Apathy
Haha @ complaining about Lincoln cops. They're the most lenient police force Ive ever seen I agree. Years ago my buddy cross two lanes in downtown Lincoln and even cut off a Lincoln officer. Got pulled over and only got a warning....oh did I mention my buddy showed the officer his Military ID so maybe thats why he got off but still, reckless driving anyone. Quote Link to comment
HUSKER 37
What's a Taxi cost? I remember Freshman Year..I'd just turned 19 a few months before..I got stopped outside of Herms Liquor somewhere around 17th and P? for not turning Left in a turning lane (The sign was just before you pulled into Herms and had plenty of time to forget if you happened to shop there). THE cOP asked me and my buddy if we'd been drinking...I said something like.."I was thinking about opening this 12-pac..If you'd just waited a few more blocks". My older Sister had a stroke the day before my trial, so I forgot all about showing up..Eventually..after receiving a warrant for my arrest in the mail at Abel..They threw out the case..Probably because of my nifty drawings of the crime scene and the glossy 8 x10 color photos of the overgrown tree partially covering the sign.
