This is an article from last year. I removed it from my post in the Quessenberry thread.

He's a former hockey player turned offensive tackle. If things work out for David Knevel he will soon take his gridiron game to the states.

Knevel, 6-feet-8 and 274 pounds, is one of the top high school football players in Canada. He drew loads of attention at last weekend's Under Armour combine in Tampa, Fla. The common theme when talking to people who have watched Knevel is that he has a chance to become a very good offensive tackle prospect.

"There's no question that he's one of the best I have seen all [combine] season," said George Hegamin, offensive line coach for the Under Armour combines. "David is athletic enough to cover up just how raw he is. Right now he has no idea what he's doing. He just gets in front of people with his athleticism. I think this kid has a chance to be a really good one."

Yes we need OT badly. I think we get Q for center and take 2 possibly 3 OT between Knevel, Lacy, Morris, Cochran 2 of these for sure and maybe more of a project for a 3rd towards the end of the cycle, maybe for a 26th recruit if we fill out the 25 easily. I would like to see us take 28 we certainly have the room to.

Instead of a project that late in the recruiting process, I'd rather we take a juco kid. Maybe a 3 to play 3 guy.

If a good OL JUCO player is even available, hard to find those.

The home town of # 99 along with six or seven other NHL players. This is the same school who produced a OT for New England Patriots

He visited Michigan State last weekend for the Boise State game, says they are really picking up interest in him the last couple months. Considering unofficial to Toledo on October 22nd. Has already been to Toledo so, going for seconds. Same with Purdue on Oct. 6th. Really liked the campus and the coaches each spent a lot of one on one time with him. Wants to see more. His OV to Nebraska will be his first look at Lincoln against Wisconsin. Also, wants to go to Washington State for an OV and see Coach Leach's program. Sounds like Purdue and Toledo are out front right now. Can't be sure though. Other interest is coming from Baylor, Mizwho, Wisky, and UNLV.

He said he considered committing last night, but he wants to honor his other visits. (Canadian Courtesy) :dunno

Will visit Purdue, Toledo, Wisconsin and Washington State. But says he can really see himself in the offense at nebraska.

My understanding is that at this time with his current offer list he is ours to lose but will not commit until all officials are taken.

That's exactly what i think.

That's apparently what he told Banderas or one of the commits.

He gave our visit a 9

They grade 0-9 in Canada? Learn something new every day.

I heard he only gave us a 9 because we don't have a hockey team.

WTF is going on here we have whiffed on about 5 Offensive lineman already this year not to mention Peat last year, and two left the program this year. Our Offense is going to suck. We have a line that will have 5 senior starters on it next year. It shouldn't be hard to recruit some lineman, any 4 star lineman that come here this year will probably be a 3 to 4 year starter. Is our offensive lineman coach a fu%%ing retard or something?????????

Knevel's case sounds a bit like a recruit from a couple years ago named Mickey Johnson. Mickey had Suh throwing Colt McCoy to the ground as his screensaver, was a huge Pelini fan, etc. and had us and UCLA as his top 2 for most of the summer. But he always seemed to change his "leader" to the school he last visited. Knevel seems to be a bit of the same way - what with almost committing after the Wisconsin game, then naming Purdue his leader after his visit. One to keep an eye on, but I think this kid will be swayed by whoever gets his visit last.

Not so much. He visited WVU this past weekend but still names Purdue and Nebraska as his leaders. Knevel and Mickey are very different. Mickey seemed to be a prima donna. I don't see that in Knevel.
