jmfb
How would NU fans be responding to this situation if Manziel was at NU? Uber rich spoiled brat, drives Mercedes, mom&dad move to College Station and buy big house for him and them, Spoiled, enabled, narcisisst He makes slashing gestures after scoring TDs- no respect to his opps- trash talker Gets into bar fight right across the street from the school- arrested etc Gets caught with fake IDs trying to enter bars plural (big whoop) Goes to Austin LAST WEEK to attend a Frat party on the Texas campus, wearing an A&M jersey- gets kicked out (University of Texas people HATE A&M) Thumbs his nose at aggie fans and alumns via facebook and twitter Takes PICS of himself with 1000s of $$ at casino and POSTS THEM on facebook and twitter- he's not old enough to legally drink or go into a casino- but posts plenty of pics doing so Hires an idiot "uncle Nate" frat boy dweeb- kid quits school to be JMs "personal assistant", kid is total party animal knucklehead the exact opposite of who mom& dad should have hired JM gets caught red handed signing 100s of items for a autograph broker in his hotel room- when it is WELL KNOWN that JM HATES signing autographs- he's not sitting down for 2 hours to sign stuff for free- Kid is attention whore of the worst kind Puts his team and program at risk for a measily $7,500, when his mom and dad bought him a $60,000 car and traveling all over the world flashing cash etc Obviously he has said a number of times, he's gone to the NFL after this season- he doesnt care a hoot about his teammates, his team or the University- only himself His mom and dad do a TV interview where they say they bought the car for him because "we didnt want him to be tempted in getting it another way". They also said they feared he was out of control and an alcoholic. They all know this kid is guilty of this, pattern of behaivor, - not sharpest tool in the toolbox Some good Aggies- a few are calling for the kid to fess up and step away The MAJORITY are hidign behind the BS that the rules are unfair and everyone else is breaking them, so hands off Others know he is guilty and are hoping to get off on a technicality- lack of perfect evidence OJ style A&M is SO DESPERATE for that first real National Championship- they seem to be perfectly fine with trading integrity for wins So much for the Aggie Code of Honor- I will not lie cheat or steal or tolerate those who do. Lets not make this into a debate on if the rules are fair. The rules are the rules- are they to be ignored because someone is a good football player? Mind you if selling autographs were 100% legal- rich alumns from the richest schools could guarantee recruits a MINIMUM of X $$$ to sign up, they just buy that many autographs. REALLY easy to pull off. What happens here in Osborne or Pelini era? Back when LP had his troubles, I remember MOST Husker fans were for tossing him, I know I was. Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
Neither Osborne, Solich, or Pelini would let it get as far as it has with this guy. People can say what they want about Osborne and LP but the fact was LP wasn't a distraction to the team or university leading up to his conduct. Even after he was reinstated he wasn't acting like Manziel. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
Wouldn't want anything to do with him. Quote Link to comment
jmfb
Wouldn't want anything to do with him. Funny thing is The people embracing him the most- he is going to spit in their face the day after the season is over as he's burning rubber to get out of College Station His house is already up for sale- listed by a broker Quote Link to comment
Ulty
I have no doubt that he'd have a lot of very loud defenders if he was a Husker. You'd hear terms like "witch hunt" and "media bias" in addition to rationalizing his behavior as a regular college kid. I agree with StPaulHusker that the coaches likely wouldn't let it have gotten this far in the first place, but it would be a tough situation to handle. I bet we'd be having some very heated debates here on Huskerboard over what to do with him and whether or not he is actually a major douchebag or just a misunderstood young man. Quote Link to comment
jmfb
Oh I forgot He goes to the Manning Camp, gets drunk, over sleeps and skips out on mentoring some young kids Then leaves early/ gets booted- and of course blames it on being 20 for the 100th time Kid is a MDB and I used to be a big A&M fan What's going to be funny is, probably NOTHING happens, this is the SEC mind you- but when the sh-t hits the fan during the season, this kids true character shows and it blows up in their faces. Im hoping you are correct as to our coaches. I think you are right there. Im also I guess naively hoping our "best fans in college football" would see through a kid like this and take the high road. move on to our #2 or #3 QB A selfish narcissist isnt going to win you a National Championship, teammates see through that Character is exposed at some point Quote Link to comment
HuskerLuke
Plenty of people say/have said many similiar things about Martinez (prima donna, spoiled, arrogant, crybaby) and hated him for it. Considering all that mostly based on a phone call during a game, you can probably guess how Husker fans would react to Manziel-level issues. Quote Link to comment
JJ Husker
His team mates should fill a pillow case with bars of soap, sneak into his room at night, and "take care of" the insufferable little bastard. His antics should not be compared to LP. What LP did was wrong and disturbing in it's own way but there isn't much I hate worse than someone who has the world in the palm of their hand but chooses to flip the finger to all those who made it possible. MDB just begins to scratch the surface. Somebody needs to kick him in the nuts......daily. 2 Quote Link to comment
Hoosker
It sounds to me like A&M officially joined the SEC when JFF became the starting QB. Quote Link to comment
Haspula
I hate that a&m counts undefeated seasons back in the 1910s as championships. Face a bunch of community colleges within your area and its considered a "national" title If nebraska did that we would probably have a hundred championships Quote Link to comment
jmfb
And this: He doesnt even attend any real classes on Campus: http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/2013/03/johnny-manziel-reveals-decision-behind-online-courses-and-why-he-drives-a-mercedes.html/ Obviously he is LONG gone after this season Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
I just don't see 3 of the last 4 coaches letting it go as far as Sumlin and Texas A & M have let it go for anyone to defend Manziel. He has been a major distraction to that team and our coaches wouldn't tolerate it. Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
I have never known a fan base that is more critical of their own players, coaches and team than Husker fans. I have no doubt that a large number of Husker fans would be crucifying him right now if he were a Husker. Sure, he would have some people supporting him. But, the loudest voices would be people wanting him gone. Quote Link to comment
