Hayseed
I was thinking Barry Sanders.....I can see why he was the #1 runner in California. Quote Link to comment

Ludicrinous
Newby! Great to see a much-touted recruit actually turn out to be worth all the hype we've been hearing! Quote Link to comment
Hercules
He was impressive for sure. More patient and stronger than I expected. Going to be very, very good. Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
I was on the boat that thought Taylor was more "college ready". Obviously i was proven wrong in a big way. Not the Taylor isnt ready, but that Newby obviously a hell of a lot more ready than I thought. Now we all know why taylor redshirted. He didnt reaggrevate an injury. It's not about getting acclimated to college life. It's more simple than that. There's just not enough room on the play chart for all these back when you have a guy like Newby demanding 10+ touches a game. Newby's vision and feel for the game is just beyond ridiculous. Mark my words. By mid-season, Newby is the #1 feature back (barring injury of course). Quote Link to comment
skersfan
wow. Just wonder if he is big enough for the rigors of the Big10 all year long. Explosive, fun to watch for sure. Quote Link to comment
jmfb
Yes- Barry Sanders. The kid avoided some loss plays because of himself- just like Barrry. One amazing 4 yard run where he made 2-3 guys miss. Kid is SPECIAL Quote Link to comment
macroboy
He looked amazing. It was exciting to watch. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
I was really impressed with him, hope to see more of him that's for sure! Quote Link to comment
HUSKER FREAK
I was most impressed by him not giving up after first contact. I am not saying he is better than Ameer but he will be that's for sure. How soon time will tell. I really like his style and plays bigger than he is. Quote Link to comment
trackspeed
Newby is a solid #3 back for us, but I don't see him jumping over Abdullah or Cross. I think he was played the second half in order to put fresh legs up against a tiring defense and it worked. It could be my memory failing, but didn't we also have a fullback in during a lot of his carries? Again, Newby looked good, but certainly not any better than the two backs in front of him. I remember Ahman Green and Roger Craig suffered from the same fan wisdom in that they should move aside and let the "real talent" on the field... Quote Link to comment
