Northwestern: Biggest Game in Bo's Career ?

No, biggest game will be in Ann Arbor. A loss there will be the final nail in the coffin. Losing the Northwestern game will intensify the outcry, especially if the defense plays horribly. But if he wins in Ann Arbor, he will win respect. Maybe not a lot, but he will get enough.

But if he loses at Ann Arbor, its a done deal. He or someone else is out.

This week Bo told his coaching staff to have their resumes ready.

Should be an interesting game Saturday.

While some would like to see Nebraska just go ahead and lose in order to get the whole Bo chapter over with, I would love to see this team come out on fire. If they want Bo, they need to win for Bo. They need to play like they haven't been playing. Then they need to do the exact same thing the next week.

It's possible. Maybe more than possible. There's a lot of talent on this team. And the Big 10 shouldn't strike fear into anyone.

Worst case scenario? A hard fought loss against a talented Northwestern team also fighting for its life.

Or maybe a lifeless turnover plagued win against a Northwestern team that has given up.

That would just prolong the misery.

Source?

Not that I'm disagreeing. It's not something that can be out of the norm, and is probably standard procedure in times like this. But just curious if youre hearing this from someone who saw it happen or if youre just speculating something that in reality, most likely has happened.

Source? You want my source?

It's my brother. Who said it was the rumor going around Lincoln.

Nothing more than rampant speculation, really. I just wanted to start my post with a bang.

As rumors go, it's pretty easy to believe.

You appear defensive. LOL.

I was just asking as if it was something that was in a newspapar or something that I missed. Like I said, it's not like it's something way out of left field or something. It's not anything shocking. I was just curious if there was hard proof or something. I'm not doubting it whatsoever.

Sipple was on the radio talk show out of Kearney the other day. They straight up asked him (since Sip and Bo are pretty close) how Bo's handling the hot seat talk and if he knows and such. Sip said Bo is handling it very well and that he's very aware of the implications involving his job.

I'll admit back in '07 watching the CU game I had mixed feelings. I wanted us to win, but I also thought BC needed to be gone. Turns out TO already had his mind made up but if I had to chose that day between a loss and BC staying I'd have probably chosen the former. I'm by no means at that point with Bo. Still think this team can get it turned-around. That turnaround has to start this Saturday with a W, otherwise Bo's seat is burning-hot and he could possibly even be done.

If Nebraska loses today it's very possible they don't win again this season. With NU in a tail spin, I'd give Michigan a ~70% chance of winning. MSU game will be ugly and I think the Huskers get crushed and beat up whether or not they win today, and then limp to Happy Valley. Penn State and Iowa are not elite teams but they'll both show up and make Nebraska beat them. If the wheels have fallen off by that point it will be ugly. A win today and I'd give NU 50% chance against MICH. If they win that, perhaps only one more loss, to MSU. Huge game today.

If we win today, I can see us going 3-2 over the rest of the season ending us at 8-4. is it enough to keep Bo? That depends on how we lose those games. If they're close, he stays. But if we drop to Michigan 35-7 or something of the like, I don't see Bo coming back. If we lose to NW, I honestly could only see us winning a max of one to two games this year. Which would mean Bo is gone and people who think otherwise are just asking for mediocrity.

We're a little better than average team this year and it's the part of the season where injuries start to take a toll. Our best hope for success is our D starts playing the same game and gives our O a chance to stay with what it can do best. Bo was hired as the defensive specialist, so yes, every game that goes by where the D stinks it up makes it harder for Bo to stick around and every game with good D makes it easier on him. We don't have to make up personal insults or conspiracy theories against the coaches and players...it's just a matter of their ability to get the job done at a satisfactory level. Some of it IS on the defensive players looking clueless and just not making plays on their own initiative but the responsibility always comes back to the head guy.

I think Ron Kellogg and Jordan Westerfkamp just saved Bo's job for this week at least. He is still has one foot on the bricks though. You can't play this poorly for two weeks in a row against the two bottom dwellers in the Division and expect to stay with the big guys to come on the schedule.
