Iowa Joke Thread

What does a head coach of a college football team that is not nearly as good as they used to be think about the fans?

Our crowd. What a bunch of f------ fair-weather f------ — they can all kiss my ass out the f------ door. 'Cause the day is f------ coming now. We'll see what they can do when I'm f------ gone.

Oh yea, this was after a game where thousands of fans and students left the game well before it was over (well, I guess it was actually over, the time had just not run out). Is it only fun to support them when they win?

Playing Iowa is like playing that one apathetic guy in fantasy football... you know, the one who has given up and no longer checks his line up for byes and injuries. It's hard to care if you win because you know that he doesn't care if he loses.

For the same reason, a loss stings particularly badly because you know they were just going through the motions and are satisfied with any win and any season outcome.

We are upset that we are 8-3 going into the game. They are happy to have beaten Michigan to get to 7-4.

When we played OU, the stakes were always high. Both cared A LOT.

If you won, you went to the Orange Bowl and possibly to the National Title Game. If you lost, you lemented what might have been and it took a while for you to shake off the notion that the season was ruined by that defeat.

Maybe most Iowa fans have a more realistic expectation for where their program is at this point. Maybe Nebraska fans shouldn't be so upset at an 8-3 record? Seeing as that has been and will be the norm for Nebraska football for quite some time it might be a good idea to not set the bar too high. The college football landscape is vastly different than it was when Nebraska was a power. This makes it very difficult for a program like Nebraska or Iowa to compete for National titles on a consistent basis ("...but you're an Iowa fan what do you know about winning titles?" Please save it.) I do think it's fair for the both of our programs to expect 8-10 win seasons on a regular basis with the occasional 11 when things fall into place and 6-7 when it's time to rebuild. Both of our programs simply don't have the recruiting resources to do that. I mean lets face it both fan bases come from boring states to a 5 star athlete from Florida. My main point is that I don't believe that Nebraska is what it once was and most likely never will be. I'm not even trying to start a flame war by saying that, Nebraska has great history and it's hard to match that in the mid-west.

What is more likely to happen is Nebraska consistently being a tough team that is enjoyable for their fans to watch. As for me from an Iowa perspective, I truly believe that Iowa is getting better from being in the toilet last season and could be ready to make this series something special over the years. Friday's game should be great as both teams are very even and have strengths and weaknesses that will create interesting matchups. Iowa is not Colorado, but it's hard for me to say that given the recent results. For Iowa's sake I hope that they show some passion that was lacking the past two years to show that they are even with Nebraska. Here's to a great game on Friday :thumbs

I'm sure there's a Nebraska joke thread on an Iowa board somewhere. Steal one of these, change the "Iowa" to "Nebraska" and go type it there. Laugh with your kind. Now here's to kicking your collective teeth in AGAIN.

Coming off a 4-8 season, why wouldn't we be happy to get to 7-4 and continuing to get closer to back on track? We're okay with any season outcome? Umm...Yes, that's why so many Iowa fans are fed up with Ferentz, want him out, etc; because they're content with whatever each season brings us... People want 8 or more wins every year. It's not easy to do with some of the inherent disadvantages, and quite honestly we were spoiled during the 2000s because of how good we became. When things started to slip a bit, and 7 win seasons started happing, people in Hawkeye Nation are getting antsy because they demand more. To think that Iowa fans are content with average, 7 win seasons, on a consistent basis is absurd. This year, though, coming off 4-8 with what was seemingly a much tougher schedule, I think in August, many would've been content with 7 wins. Now? People want 8, and they want it bad. A likely trip to the Outback Bowl after a 4-8 season would make this one a pretty darn good one for Iowa fans. Iowa fans want this one Friday because it is a perfect opportunity to start turning this into a rivalry that could be pretty good someday.

I came across a stat today..Since 1998 Nebraska has 64 losses. From 1962-1997 they had only 69. Nebraska Football will never be what it was; be mad at 8-3, especially with a weak schedule, but additionally, understand that you're not a program that will win 10+ every year anymore. The national recruiting that made Nebraska so good is not near what it was, and their defense just isn't close to that true 90's blackshirt d.

I understand this is a Husker forum, and it may not be my place to make this post, but I thought I'd give my take from an Iowa perspective.

Go eat an Iowa dick, you'll find noone here that's your type.
