r06ue1
Why does everyone automatically believe that Craig Bohl has not improved as a coach in the last 12 years? Many of you might admire what Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer have accomplished in the past, well, their resumes (before they were hired at Ohio State and Florida respectfully) were very similar to Craig Bohl's today. Hypothetical situation: Bohl turns Wyoming into a winner, just as he did with North Dakota State, gets hired by some big named program and leads them to the NCG; how would that make you feel? Well, Tressel and Meyer both took the same route to get there. How many schools out there are kicking themselves today for not seeing these guys sooner and hiring them? Not saying Bohl would do that but he could is all I am saying. Tressel and Meyer failed miserably as a D1A defensive coordinator? That's part of Bohl's route, whether you want to remember it or not. Just talking head coach there. Quote Link to comment

I just had a conversation about this with a guy this morning who was adamant that he would be pissed if we hired Bohl because he was so bad here before as DC. My question to him and now to you is......sooooo.....because he wasn't successful at his very first attempt to be a coordinator, he is destined to be a failure the rest of his life at the FBS level? Nope, but it means he's a pretty big risk. Just because he succeeded as HC at a lower level doesn't mean he will succeed at D1A. His past here also means if he gets off to a rough start that people will turn on him quickly, and bring up 62 to Colorado at every opportunity. I think of all the candidates, people would have the least patience with Bohl by a long shot. I don't care how happy the Wyoming fan is with him, 4-8 and a game worse than his predecessor isn't a good sign. Quote Link to comment
