Ho. Ly. ****.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that they continued s8 ep1 at breakneck pace but I really thought

Spoiler

they would somewhat drag out;

- informing Jon of his lineage

- Cersei sleeping with Euron

- Jon and Daenerys each riding a dragon together

I pretty much expected these things to happen but not all in ep1. I suppose they don’t have the time left to let these things play out at the pace of the first 5 seasons.

And it sure didn’t take very long for

Spoiler

Theon to rescue Yara.

A couple surprises were

Spoiler

- Sansa reverting back to being annoying and a PITA. I had hoped she turned the corner when her and Arya offed Little Finger but once again she’s not my favorite character.

- I hadn’t considered all the problems Jamie was likely to face by going north; I had totally forgot about him pushing Bran out the window (although I don’t think it is going to be an unforgivable problem for the three eyed raven). And I also had not considered Daenerys might be angry with him for killing the mad king. Not to mention none of the Starks will be too enamored of him.

- Also hadn’t given much thought to Daenerys killing Sam’s dad and brother, or at least how Samwell might react to learning that.

And I’m gonna be pissed if Bron goes through with killing either Tyrion or Jamie. I expect Jamie to die at some point but I hope it isn’t by Bron’s hand.

They covered a lot of ground.

I don’t think Dany will care at all about Jaime killing her dad. She knows he was awful. It’s different with Sam because he just found out.

I agree about Bran. Since he’s a weirdo now, he’ll be mature enough to see Jaime isn’t evil. Maybe he won’t even tell anyone that Jaime pushed him out of the window.

I thought Sam’s reveal to Jon was pretty blunt and awkward but I’m not sure how else you tell someone that and he was emotional already. I don’t think Jon is going to want anything to change.
