Championship Football

All-Conference
The key phrase in SE's press conference dismissing Bo Pelini was "Championship Football" Dont anyone forget that. I have been very critical of the Mike Riley hire already however I am going to hold judgement. But i will not forget the coaching change was made to get back to playing "Championship Football"

That being said. What attributes does Riley have that lead SE to believe he will lead us back to "Championship Football"? I will start:

1. He's a really nice fellow.

He's bald: Less time doing his hair* = more coaching/recruiting time

*I know all about this

He can develop his players, something Bo's never been great at. Getting them to play at a higher level than they should be capable of.

He understands that recruiting is a year round deal, and not something you focus on from December to February.

He caught a fish this big:

He's proven he can take down the big programs. He's done that time and time again. His players while maybe not as talented as the other team play together and disciplined which is how they've won those big games.

So can Iowa State.

How many conference titles have they won?

I know a program that hired an ISU coach and then won an NC.
And then went 2-10 and is now out of a job and also arguably cheated to get the star player that helped them win that NC.

Like the Washington Huskies?

He has experience doing alot with a little. He has very little to work with here. A disappointed fanbase, jaded players, a supremely high bar to clear.

I think with the right staff he will be good even great.
