This is one of those players that I just have to trust the staff that they know what they are looking for and think they can make him into a good player. He hasn't been playing very long and obviously hasn't been heavily recruited. If he comes to Nebraska, great. We have had players before that weren't heavily recruited and came in to be good contributors.

Possibly, but this looks like a pretty big stretch. I think the recruiting misses at DE last year and this year are going to come back to haunt us. We're offering warm bodies at this point.

Obviously this is plan C, D or even H. But, I'm not willing to say it's just a warm body until they are on campus and getting coached. We won't know for a few years.

The previous staff actually had an eye on him this past summer. I'm guessing Warren had already been talking to him and that's why he went this morning. Got back in touch with him after other offers fell through.

Probably a boom-or-bust offer. 6-5 and a basketball players screams athletic potential but obviously very raw..

Avery Moss was a basketball player in HS who wasn't necessarily heavily recruited. It has worked out before.

That's fair enough I suppose. I just wonder at what point (is it plan H?) do we have to admit our recruiting misses at DE are going to come back to haunt us. It's hard to be successful when you're offering guys with Sun Belt offer lists over the last two years, even if one of them turns out to be a diamond-in-the-rough.

Meh...I'm not going to stew about it.

Things like this are why I absolutely hate coaching changes. It is extremely difficult for a coach to get that first recruiting class. Next year is going to be a big year for recruiting.

Next year could be 25+ class depending on attrition. Already 20 Seniors. Who knows what could happen with underclassmen and Armstrong leaving for the NFL early.
