sho
Good for him...though that could be an issue for the football team. He'll switch to count against the 85 limit if he kicks in a game. As a walk on he could have played and not impacted the 85 limit. Either we lose 4 players between now and the fall or he's not playing this fall. Quote Link to comment
Atbone95
He's a walk on He'll still count as a scholarship athlete the second he plays one snap. Quote Link to comment

What if we're at 85 and mid season he ends up kicking, what happens then? Quote Link to comment
Mavric
No, there is specifically not a loophole. If you're on any kind of scholarship, it counts towards you football limit. Quote Link to comment

Mavric
Not sure how that is going to work. He might have to decline it. Or he can use it if it doesn't end up working out with the football team. Quote Link to comment
jsneb83
Are you sure it isn't just tuition-based scholarships. I highly doubt that all the walk-ons pay for everything out of their pockets Quote Link to comment
Mavric
I guess there is an exception that he could get the scholarship without counting against the limit if he doesn't play. 15.5.1.1 Football or Basketball, Varsity Competition. In football or basketball, a student-athlete who was recruited (see Bylaw 15.02.8) by the awarding institution and who receives institutional financial aid (as set forth in Bylaw 15.02.4.2) granted without regard in any degree to athletics ability does not have to be counted until the student-athlete engages in varsity intercollegiate competition (as opposed to freshman, B-team, subvarsity, intramural or club competition) in those sports. (Revised: 1/16/93 effective 8/1/93, 1/11/94, 6/20/04, 1/15/11 effective 8/1/11, 1/18/14 effective 8/1/14) Link Quote Link to comment

Atbone95
Right - what I'm saying his he either forfeits the scholarship or we take a hit numbers wise the second he plays one snap. Quote Link to comment
Hedley Lamarr
Anyone think you see Bondi bounce and if this kid wins the job he takes the scholly? Quote Link to comment
jsneb83
This is probably why Bo gave out so many scholarships to walk-ons that were playing. If they are already counted towards your scholarship count, might as well give them one. Quote Link to comment
