Just wondering if you Huskers are nervous about anyone else on the football team besides Taysom? What are your thoughts on our receivers and running backs? Obviously Taysom can't win the game all by himself, and we've seen when he does try to win games by himself, he usually ends up getting injured. On another note, what do you think is the most underrated part of your football team? I haven't done a lot of research but I know you guys have an OK QB who has potentail, and I know one of your best players is out for this game. Do you have any other electrifying players that we should be made aware of?

There's some trepidation about your receivers, but I don't think many of us could recite any of their names, only that they're both 6'5". If we had last year's defensive staff, we wouldn't really be worried about the passing game, because we never really had much reason to, but it's pretty much entirely unknown how this team will perform Saturday.

Our linebacking corps is paper thin, but according to reports, has been blossoming and surprising a lot of people, with some really good talent and significantly improved coaching. Maliek Collins at DT will be a first rounder, but otherwise we have a ton of really good players, and none that, as of yet, have proven to be electric.

I know nothing about your rbs besides the starter (?) left school.

I have heard that each of your wrs are about 7'3".

The tallest WR is 6'6" according to their roster

That was, I'd assume, hyperbole....

Not to be confused with a hyper bowl.

Here is one of the 6'-6" receivers. Mitch Mathews. He's a senior.

Nick Kurtz is the other and he is a 6'-5" JC transfer Junior that turned down offers from Oregon and USC to come to BYU. Broke his foot lost year so he has a year in the system. Devon Blackmon is a 6'-1" JC transfer senior that had a rough time learning the offense last year. He spent his first year at Oregon so he has some speed and looks to make a big splash this year. Should be interesting to see how they match up with your athletic secondary.

The RBs are going to miss Jamaal WIlliams this year. He had a knack for getting an extra 3 or 4 yards just about every play. Algernon Brown is a bit of a bruiser back at 235 lbs and has great hands out of the backfield. Behind him depth is a little scary as we have Adam Hine (great kick return man but not great laterally) and walk-on, 5'-8" Nate Carter that will provide some sort of change of speed to the RB spot. Will be interesting to see who will step up to the plate with the extra carries this year.

Did not know there were other players besides Taysom. Will have to check it out.

We did lose DPE, our punt and kickoff return specialist. I still think the special teams are often overlooked. Even without DPE, we have top level talent in the kicking game and also some pretty decent return guys besides DPE.

DPE is special.

BYU's kick returner Adam Hine is very good. However, our special teams likes to block in the back and hold negating many of his big returns. Also, they can't stay onside on kickoffs. It kills me.

For a 31 page (so far) thread with opposing fans talking smack to each other, it's remarkable we haven't had more infractions than we've had. On either side. Especially considering we're on the eve of football season and everyone is hot to get started. I gotta admit, you BYU fans are good eggs. Glad to have you guys as members of Huskerboard.

I'm not too concerned about your RBs due to the fact I think our front seven is going to be pretty good and I haven't heard of any world beaters in your back field.

I am a little concerned about your WR because I hear you have two that are pretty tall. Haven't heard much about them other than their height. My son is a HS sophomore at 6'6" and I wouldn't be too concerned about him as a WR.

The concern comes that our new defense has our CBs on an island more so that we can stop the run. Now, that works if you can put pressure on the QB. If you look back at the 96 Fiesta Bowl against Wuerfle (sp?). We put our CBs on an island by themselves, but the key was, he had absolutely no time to even look for them. You can not leave any CB out there for very long or a good QB is going to find an open receiver.

So, I think that's where the key is on this entire game. Can our front 7 first contain your QB and then put so much pressure on him that he doesn't have time to find these giants roaming the frontier?

I'm worried about your defensive linemen. I am not worried about your LBs at all.

Banderas at LB has talent. The other 2 guys are first timers so who knows. But yeah, the D-line is good, and the DT's are monsters.

A Banderas that doesn't have to think and can just play shoild be fun to watch. He was clearly thinking too much last year and that was his biggest problem.

It will be interesting to see if Collins lines up at DE at all in this game. Has good speed and push.... Kevin Williams is a really good player too and has a black shirt. He could be at the DT position with Valentine in these situations.....He would be a starter for most other teams in the power 5 IMHO.

So Banderas is healthy for this game correct?

Its been well documented how Banderas feels about this new defense vs. the old crap. Banderas is one of the best athletes on this team and has a speed/size combination that is not common. I'm as excited to see him cut loose as I am to see Collins have free reign. Both those guys will benefit from the new-found aggression they'll be allowed to play with.
