Sounds like WR is the spot for him.

Apparently also a D1 lacrosse prospect who'll be pretty busy with that sport for the next couple months.

Vikings GM Rick Spielman is his dad and Chris Spielman is his uncle? So he's adopted, right?

Yes. Rick has like 5 adopted kids.

I wish I knew someone up here that gave a sh#t about Gophers football that I can talk smack with about recruits like this

Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever encountered a Gopher fan.

They are starting to come out more and more now that they have had some success....some of them are worse than Iowa fans with what they say!!!

well, he can pick Gophers and play in a boring offense,OR he could come to the land of Big Red and play exciting offense.

Kind of meh on this one. If we are going to recruit an undersized jet sweep guy every year he should at least have blazing speed. JD looks good on tape, but not as fast you'd like.

Anyone know if his recruiting service 40 times are electronic or not? 4.45 is plenty fast if accurate.

We played his team last year and I was not overly impressed...actually I don't really remember him at all...I had to go back and watch his film.

However, the staff obviously sees something in him so whatever they think!

I think he is ours just due to his dad and uncle being "football people". And "football people" love Mike Riley.

I think he was ours after the 8th crystal ball prediction.

Same high school as Jay Foreman?

Apparently so.

Eden Prairie is THE high school power program in MN. They are coached by Mike Grant (ex- Vikings coach Bud Grant's son) and have won 10 state titles since 1996, including the last 4.

Coincidentally they are good in hockey too.

I stand corrected. Wayzata is slightly larger (53 kids in 2012).

Only 53 kids go there?

I think you've got Spielman in the bag. Minnesota got a verbal from Drew Hmielewski, a similar player who fills a similar niche, so there might not be room for Spielman anymore.

Hmielewski is 6'2" and runs a 4.6, so I'm not sure they that similar, just based on measurables.

Either way, would be great to get Spielman, who's an all around good athlete. Pulling an NFL GMs kid in looks good on us too.
