To be fair to add to this as well. I never see us in on any elite guys at that position. .95 or higher type guys. Just doesnt seem to be any interest from elite talent at that position in Nebraska.

there are not many D and O-line guys at that level.  It is similar to a good center in BB - only 10 really good ones a year and if you aren't one of the top 15 schools they are hard to get.

Would be a huge jump considering where we stand now in the 60's. Also given that the staff would only have had a few weeks to climb that high and that isn't a bad finish at all.

Still have half the class to go. Many of those above us have 17-20 commits in them. It's a big jump but not completely unattainable

Not sure if there is any truth to this, but heard Easton Stick is graduating this week and would come to Nebraska if Frost offered. Former Omaha kid now at NDSU

Any chance we throw an offer or preferred walk-on to Milton Sargbah? Gatorade player of the year in Nebraska. I know Frost won this award as a SR as well.

Seems like the recent winners never end up here. CJ Johnson, Jadyn Kowalski, Harrison Phillips, and Drew Ott.

I would like to have Sargbah get a scholarship offer, and Kenny Wilhite has been working on getting him an offer for a while now.  Maybe Frost is hoping to get some of his higher priorities committed, but I think Sargbah would be a fit in Frost's offense.

Honestly, these top players in Nebraska are too good to get walk-on offers.  They are going to get scholarship offers elsewhere.  If you want to emphasize keeping the top kids in each class in-state, you need to offer them scholarships.

For those with subscription, this is a good article on the possible impacts/outstanding questions of early signing period:

https://theathletic.com//181137/2017/12/12/early-signing-period-college-football-recruiting/?redirected=1

Nebraska was mentioned in the question about whether or not early official visits matter:

Quote

Nebraska has great facilities, a terrific campus, great support, tremendous resources and rare tradition, but a minimal player pool in-state or in bordering states. Nebraska is expected to compete with the best of the best, but it can be difficult for prospects to get there on their own dime as sophomores and juniors.

For comparison’s sake, look at Alabama. The vast majority of players they actively recruit are within 300 miles of Tuscaloosa. Prospects can drive in a timely manner and get on campus. In fact, a prospect could drive and get on the campus of Georgia, Auburn and Alabama all in one day.

These are oversimplified scenarios that illustrate the point. Early official visits will matter, but likely more to programs in less populated regions or rural cities. The hope for programs like Nebraska is that it can make a great impression on juniors each spring.

Current # of composite top 100 recruits for 2018 per 247

Ohio St: 11

Penn St: 3

Michigan: 1

Every other B10 school combined: 0

I get that it's not easy to get top 100 players on your team since there are over 100 schools, but man does Ohio St have the B10 by a landslide lately
