Its time to start thinking about extending Riley's contract.

We all knew it would take time for the team to gel, and yesterday they did. They won on the road as an underdog, against a team that had beaten NU 2 straight years. Two years ago we were embarrassed and resoundingly beaten, by a team coached by an asst. coach that had no coaching experience. Not yesterday by seasoned coach that everyone respects.

Yesterday, we witnessed a coaching staff that put together a great gameplan and a team that finally bought in. Maybe part of it was the speech that Lewis gave the team earlier this week. (If so, it proves that Riley handled the matter with him correctly) But the team and coaching staff played to win and put a team away yesterday. They did everything we thought they could do coming into the season. They got everything out of the talent that they had. Its on to bigger and better things.

Lets look at what they did.

Put together a great gameplan - A+

Playcalling - A+

Game management - A

Special Teams - B

D-line - A+

Linebackers - A

D-backs - B-

O-line - B+

Qb - A-

Receiver's - A

So, if not a contract extension, then maybe a raise! Hip Hip Hooray!

To be fair, so far this season, we lost to an assistant coach and a guy who's going to get fired at the end of the year.

If anything, Riley will get the cursory 1 year renewal that's standard, but no more than that.

LOL I am assuming this one is tongue through cheek! You can't possibly be serious!

There were no A+ performances yesterday. Period. I would give the coaches a solid B. Tommy an A-. RBs a B-. O Line B+. WRs B- (not many yards after catches it seemed from listening). Special teams - B -. Still struggling in kick returns. returned a couple duds certainly. Punt returns - we didn't field a couple again! really hurt us in field position by about 60 yards or more. DL - B- good run stops but very weak pass rush as usual. DEs. See DL LBs. B. Some good but need to see a few more big plays to get an A.

Overall, gameplan and management: B+. One of our better ones so far. Playcalling = B+. We had a couple series and perhaps a 'dirty dozen' snaps that were NOT good and out of rhythm and sequence. One key series in 4th Qtr was very close to letting them back into a game.

As for a contract extension: I think we just gave him a no cut contract. I see no reason to even consider ANY extension UNLESS it includes a buy out clause the requires any team he works for in the future before the contract is fulfilled to pay the University the remainder of his contract if they choose to hire him away from us. Certainly, you don't extend the contract for a minimum of three years. When it gets down to 2 years left and we have a Big Ten division or champ trophy in the case, we can give him another year or two. No automatic rollovers. Period. Let him EARN IT!

You think Kill's going to get fired?

Wow......don't feed the trolls.

Riley called them (BUGS) I'm not surprised that it brought the BUGS out. True husker fans would be praising the coaches and the team today, the BUGS just want the coaches and the team to fail so they can say they were right. Really pathetic! But they are who we thought they were!

You don't even realize you're the troll in this situation....

Agree. How can you reward anyone for what we have seen in one game. I don't think anyone in the real world gets payed this amount of money and people call for a pay raise. What happens if we don't win another game this year? This puts the university in a situation where the school has to pay more if a change is needed.
