Nebraska High School Players - Class of 2017

Recommended Posts

Moses Bryant is pretty good.

2018 kid so maybe we should take it over to that thread but what position do you see him at next level? I'm not sure it's RB. WR? DB?
Nebraska is looking at him as a DB.

I'm happy for the young men that will get their college paid for. Also sad that the Huskers lose so many kids to other programs willing to take a chance. I wish the guys committing to Wyoming and elsewhere a healthy and productive career.
You wanted us to take a chance and offer this kid?

I don't think I said or implied that at all. My thoughts were that these young man used to walk on to Nebraska in hopes of living the dream. That is no longer the case and for good reason. It was always a subject of pride to see a kid walk on, earn a schollie and star for the Big Red.

Didn't mean to imply you were implying it. Was trying to figure out exactly what you did mean. Thanks for the explanation, I agree 100% with you. Another situation where I think if we get back to regularly competing for conference titles and are in national title hunt maybe we grab a few more that turn down smaller schools to walk on here. But it'll never be like it use to.

What I've seen as well. Obviously doesn't play a ton of DB right now so it's hard to get an idea how he'd fit in there. But they know better than us.

Jaylin Bradley sure looked the part tonight. Might get interesting if he clears up academics.

Sounds like Davis really likes him and he's working hard to qualify. If he gets his grades together, expect an offer.

At the end of the day the kid had 496 yards and 7 TD in a single game...worth a shot if he can make it. Especially when we aren't needing a RB this year

Not to mention the best player in the state.

How does that work with Bradley possibly qualifying, does he need to sign in February and we hope he makes it later or can we wait and hope he gets everything in order and we sign him later on in the year (kind of like Jordan Stevenson). I would love to see him end up making it to Lincoln

Technically he doesn't have to sign at all.

But I would guess they would probably say he has to have a pretty good idea by then for us to hold a scholarship for him. Otherwise he might have to see who else leaves before he could get one for sure.

Though at this point it would seem pretty possible for us to save a spot for him (or whoever).

Wonder what happens to Kitrell and Minnesota. It still is his only P5 offer, so a good chance he sticks, but I wonder what would happen if another P5 program offers.

If it's PJ Fleck hired, he may just pull the offer anyways...

I think Nebraska needs to start recruiting and taking a harder look in state. It is a slap in the face to our kids who grew up in this state watching the big red and then just because they live here they more than likely only have the opportunity to walk on. Foltz was just one example of the many who had to walk on and prove themselves first before getting a scholarship. They start the program running up hill from day one. Plenty of talent in this state would chose playing at Memorial Stadium over anywhere else. Their hometown Husker fans, their family Husker fans, these kids wouldn't rather play anywhere else. A kid from my hometown, Kyle Emanuel, goes to North Dakota State, wins four rings, and starts for the SAN Diego Chargers now. But he grew up in a town of 5,000 people and never had the opportunity to get noticed on the D1 level. I think multiple "free" camps should be had where talented kids in this state get invited to show what they got. Too much talent in this state is considered lower quality just because our coaches tend to think it is too good to be true to have such talent so close and have a kid so willing to be a Husker. They want what they can't have , so if there is someone With equal talent who has tons of notoriety and has multiple offers, our staff jumps on board the ship thinking they must be a gift from god because they have multiple offers.

Does Kitrell have any chance of earning an offer? Does a change to 3-4 seal his fate?

Imo, no he doesn't have a chance.

How does he compare to Walker? I thought I read somewhere on here that they thought Kitrell was better...it is very possible I just made that up too.

Imo Walker has a much, much higher ceiling.

Kitrell would be better then bando. But we made that mistake early. Kitrell would be a very good Oline guy for 2-3 years.

So the guy with offers from Georgia, Louisville, Miss St and NU isnt as good as Kitrell who has offers from Army, Ohio, South Dakota St and Minny.

Sound reasoning

Imo yes. And anyone can say they have offers and you may not have those offers. I am not very big on bando. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Anyone can say it yes, however one of them has an offer from NU so i find it much more likely that his other offers were legit. The guy played at IMG Academy.

Think I posted this on the wrong thread. Think there's any interest at all from us?

I doubt it

there is interest.

We'd probably have to miss on a lot of pieces NSD and need to fill the class.. There are worse things than picking up a 3 star local kid who builds depth up front. Definitely not anyone's dream scenario though I wouldn't think. Except maybe Kitrell's.. He'd be a huge get if they could somehow convince him to be a preferred walk-on, but I don't see him passing up scholarships to do that..

As much as I love Husker football, if I were him, I would be headed to Florida.

It's clear he isn't anywhere close to a priority for Nebraska. So....go where they want you....especially if it's hanging out in Florida.

There's more to it then just that. What if he's trying to get an Ag degree? I'm sure they don't have that in Florida. It's more than just playing football.

Kittrell is going to go play for Frankie. Committed to Ohio tonight

Wish he was a Husker....but playing for Frank is a good fit. sidenote....Frank was the position coach for Bretts dad when he played at Nebraska.

Hmmm... Decommits from Minnesota to go to Ohio.

My spidey sense is telling me that he might not have had an offer to Minny after the Fleck came to town.
